Your 1) toenails are too long. 2) your shoes are too small, 3) the toe box is too low.

1. Trim your toenails
2. Get good shoes that have at least one-half inch extra between your longest toe and the front of the shoe when standing
3. Make sure the shoes have a high toe box.

Good Luck

In my experience as a fitness instructor for 20 years, black toenails is always related to the fit of the shoe. whenever I used nike shoes (which I loved), I experienced the black toenail.

I suggest that when buying your next pair of running shoes, that you go to a specific 'sports shoe' store, and have them measure your feet, not only for the length and the width, but also the depth at the toe box. A shoe with a larger and deeper toe box should help your problem. good luck.

This can and will happen if your shoes are not fitted properly. Before walking or running be sure your toenails are trimmed close as well.

Your shoes are too tight. It's quite common for new runners who try to run in their old shoes.

For running, you have to buy shoes which are 1/2 size larger than your regular shoes, because your feet swell when they're tired. So if you wear size 9, buy running shoes size 9.5
