Most Americans don't know very much about America! American history/geography is not a huge priority like it used to be. If we don't even know about our own country how can we know about others. Some people know a lot about this country and Canada. I personally LOVE Canada and have been there several times. Victoria Island (above Washington state) is beautiful, I got to tour the Provincial Parliament Building, that was cool. Ontario is really cool, beautiful country, lots of water, VERY friendly people. Prince Edward Island is my favorite spot in Canada. It is really quaint and very beautiful. One thing I have found on my trips to Canada was that the Canadians didn't know that much about the USA!! I think you have to spend time somewhere in order to know about it! I highly recommend seeing/visiting Canada as well as different states in the USA!!!

Americans know more about Canada than any other country on earth. Before Canadians get too uppity about America's seemingly disinterest in their country answer a quick question from me. How many countries border Canada? Whats the capital of Greenland? Where is Hans Island? What province runs a ferry to a French island? My point is we know a lot more about Canada than Canada knows about Greenland or the French island St. Pierre and Miquelon , 2 of your 3 neighbo(u)rs

eh?

Canada is not the land of ice and snow that so many people believe it is. It's a lot like the USA except for politics. We're friendly to all and we'd love for you to come visit us so as to get to know us better. I live just a few miles from the US boarder and I work next to the boarder. Many of the locals shop in the US and vise versa. And for those who want to invade us, please don't drive over the Bushs when you come over the 49th.

Did you know your house was probably built of Canadian lumber, heated by Canadian natural gas, lit by Canadian electricity and that beautiful Calorado Blue Spruce on your front street probably came from Canada. We also produce top notch actors, comedians, singers, musicians, and film makers.

I've traveled parts of the world and have seen many things, some good and some bad. So don't put someone down until you've walked in his shoes, slept in his bed, and done his labour.

Sambot, don't forget your mukluks and watch out for those wild beavers.

I've met a lot of very nice Americans. However, I've also met some that were stupid beyond belief. Coming to Victoria from Seattle, a couple of ladies were asking me on the ferry if we had electricity, if the roads were paved, and also if we had heardof the internet. This was 18 months ago.
It's US citizens like that who perpetuate the belief that Americans are self-centred arrogant jerks.

I know a lot about Canada. I have been all over Canada from East to West coast and stayed nights in Niagara Falls, Toronto, Vancouver, Jasper, and Lake Louise. In a few months I go to Nova Scotia and Newfundland.

First of all, I want to know what kind of company you keep. dumb people tend to hang out with other dumb people. ignorant people tend to hang out with other ignorant people, intelligent people hang out with other intelligent people, etc, etc. so if you`re basing your thoughts that americans are ignorant of other countries, on what you have observed, what does that tell you? I can guarantee you do not have enough information on what americans do or do not know to make a statement like that. there are millions of Americans, and you know how many? a dozen or so ? That is answer #1 Here is answer #2. There are how many countries in the world? Why should Americans learn about any other country other than their own? we have enough stuff to learn right here in the U.S. We learn a lot about other countries, by the way, just not a lot of in depth stuff. Why should anyone care who was czar in Russia 400 years ago or whatever?(just an example.)There are simply too many things to learn about in the world. you have to pick and choose what you wish to learn. To expect all Americans to want to know all about Canada is ridiculous. And I`m willing to bet just as many Canadians could`nt care less about knowing all about the U.S. either, and why should they have to ?

What do you mean, don't know anything about Canada? I know it exists. I've been to it. I know it's several islands surrounded by a lot of water. I know it was once owned by England. The queen is on their coins. I know their coins are useless in the US. I know it's a beautiful country, that it has a whale killing and baby seal killing problem. I know it's across the sea, from Anacortes, Washington. I know it's above Washington state, on most maps. What more do you want me to tell you? Oh, by the way, I'm an American.

Canada is about 3.8 million SQ Miles of land that will be part of the USA in the next 25 to 50 years. When (not IF) Quebec succeeds from Canada (and the French areas become the country of Quebec), the Atlantic providences will become Canada and the remaining lands will join the USA.

That is if the US does not simply march north and take everthing before then....

Personally, I couldn't give a crap less, as for the grammar thing, get over it. And if you want to know something about Canada... go there, you might even consider going in the winter. I promise you won't freeze. It is an amazing place. And I hate it when anyone tries to put us down.

When they start learning about Canada, get worried. As long as they don't know much, they don't care much, and maybe then Canada will be left alone (not invaded).

Off to hitch my dog up to the sled and mush off to the trading post for some moose meat.
