So many (American) people are divided about “illegal" immigrant laws today. On each side there stand reasons for the fight for what they believe in, but do you realize that we are fighting within our nation about another county citizen. What are those counties doing to safe guard their people rights? Does USA have an obligation to take in anyone who feels like their county is not taking care of them? When do we as a nation say that is enough?
Do you realize that we as a nation takes on some many county problem that our county is always forgotten, we have homeless people sitting on the streets, have children dropping out of school working under wage jobs, young girl having babies before the age of 15, males children going to jail before they hit 15, and the list just keeps going on. How can someone for human rights look over what’s going on in their own backyards to say they care about people. I think it’s more about race, greed, and self-worth. When is it going to be about our LAWS?

Nm505 the irony of your post is that instead of trying to find ways to improve their life, what did you call them “ career welfare-moms and crack heads”, we criticize them or look the other way by find others, as we can read from your post “people who are worth our money”. I my self drop out of school at a young age, if someone would not have took the time to help me I would not have went back to school, join the military for five years, to come home to finish college. All someone needs is someone to show them is they believe in them but you just showed why so many young American kids that are “minority” give up on that hope because who gives a dam their going to be “career welfare-moms and crack heads”

That's pretty much it, and a lot of people are asking some Very Pointed Questions of both Congress and their state governments on the issue. The US is 8.4 trillion dollars in DEBT, something's gotta change, and the first thing needs to be immigration followed by re-examining how all this 'entitlement' money gets handed out...

I like what you have to say. The bleak reality of our own backyard requires much empathy on our parts, the human element.

Regrettably, our selective empathetic notions do not make laws. They create combat theaters such as Iraq and Afghanistan. Our administration(s) sees it more beneficial to free those oppressed peoples, being that the social services you have described have been in place for decades, in case we choose these services IN LIEU of whatever precludes our citizens from taking advantage of all the opportunities given us in wonderful country of ours!

NM505 point is also well taken because, contrary to the post who spitefully addresses that view (as stupid!!!! and a DOLT!!!!), we should be asking ourselves why a foreign national, legal or otherwise who barely speaks our language, can come to this country, set up business, contribute the county/state revenues, create jobs, etc., while our citizens whine and complain that the foreigners have taken their jobs. Moreso, we have the same opportunity to become enterprising Americans just the same as all the Mexican restaurant owners across America. Guess it's not that difficult to find a landlord who will allow us to participate in a lease. I am certain no one on this post has lost a Mexican restaurant or other Mexican enterprise to anyone here. This then falls under your label of race and self-worth.

As to when is it going to be about our laws and the lawbreakers: when our crack (not crackheads) government while performing global surgery on the planet does not stop doing its housekeeping with our immigration laws and the economic needs of our own. That therein is greed disguised as special corporate interests. Been there. Done that.

I like your thoughts, but we are spoiled nation that until 9/11 have all been taking a nap. To really understand my view, you would need to experience life outside the parameters of the USA i.e. American soldiers in Iraq defending human dignity. You don't stop doing that when you return. Immigration reform is not as simple as we would like it to be.

The irony of your post is that you claim so many of these "real Americans" have horrible lives and need governmental help; however, you also mention that millions of "illegal immigrants" come here for a better life. How is it that an uneducated, non-english speaking immigrant can come to the US and make a legitimate living, yet all the people you mention can't, even though they are probably better educated and speak English fluently?

Career welfare-moms and crackheads are a much bigger drain on our country than illegal immigrants who work for a living.

I have no qualms with immigrants who come here legally but as you pointed out we do have our own to care for first as well. The US only has an Obligation to care for those that have served their country in the military and what not. We were once a nation of go getter's now we are lazy as a while wanting more money for everything from gas to food to housing to wages we are no longer the land of the brave we are the land of the selfish and greedy run by fat cats who make profit of of sending men to die in far off police action (yes its not a war we never declared war)

You know, my county is pretty well armed. The neighboring county is very wealthy. Do you think I could organize the people living in my county to form raiding parties - or even a subjugating army to take over the other county so that we could embiggen our county and it's treasuries? And if my county takes over the other county will the state police come and bother us?????

I asked a question similar to this one time and was attacked for it. I agree with you. Many illegals act like they hate Americans. They seem to hate anyone who wants our immigration LAWS enforced. They want America, however, and stoop the most lowly tactics to justify being here illegally. You have a good head on your shoulders. Great question. We should look out for OUR citizens FIRST. I'm behind you 100%.

Perhaps the mother wouldn't be on welfare if the illegal hadn't taken the job away from her. The welfare policy does not allow people with felony drug convictions to receive food stamps. Go to any welfare office and notice the ratio of Hispanic compared to other races.
