That's not the easiest question in the world to answer, but from my own experience, I have seen that quite a few people who call themselves Christian are NOT open minded. However, some of the MOST open minded people I have ever met were also Christian, but they weren't from the United States. They were from various European countries.
I don't think that lumping all Christians into a single group is the way to go, and even though it may seem like MOST Christians are closed minded, sexist biggots, I can't accurately make that judgement beause I simply haven't met every single christian on the planet or in the history of human kind. But from the examples that I have seen, including guys who were my best friends for a while (until we lost contact for OTHER reasons that have nothing to do with animosity) I can certainly say that SOME Christians aren't open minded. I can also say that those closed minded biggoted sexist Christians are also the ones who give my friends a bad name...and well...lets be honest, I'm gonna be pretty miffed if you go around dissin' my friends, whether I am still in contact with them or not!

I understand what you are saying as a lot of Christians are like that. They feel they are perfect and that everyone else is inferior and bad sinners but Jesus taught that we all are sinners and that is why we need him for salvation. He aslo taught that we are not to judge others and to before we look at the speck in anothers eyes we should first look at the log in our own. Yes ther are a lot of self righteous closed minded Christians but there are many who are open minded and follow Jesus's teachings the difference is they dont seek the lime light for it. I would suggest that you read Sojourners magazine for some positive christians and not listen to the Falwell's and Robertson's, or the Dobson's they have thier own judgement coming very soon and it wont be form us but rather a higher incorruptable being.

I'm open minded when it comes to color and decorations. Just joking. I'm open minded when it comes to not judging. But I will say this. I stand firm in what I believe and I know what God has done for me. I'm not one of them "since I go to church, I'm a christian" kind of people. I have a personal relationship with God. I know who I am. I know who God is. So therefore I don't compromise. And that's what the world means whe they say be open minded. They don't mean have a broad acceptance of things, they mean you can be here this week, there next week, here this hour, there next day. And I think that that's unstable. So, if I know that what I stand for is working in my eyes why should I compromise. A person that does that is weak and I don't do weak. "If ya don't stand for something then you will fall for anything." And thats what alot of people are doing. I love myself too much to settle for anything. I know one thing I don't do a just because. So, just because you might have rolled up on some so called christians that arent open minded that doesn't mean that all af them are like that.

I would say no, at least for those right wing evangilist types. There are many who take their religions, seriously and as a personal thing. They don't go around, spouting their beliefs and trying to convert others.
How many times, do you have Muslims, or Jews, or Hindus, knocking at your door, flaunting the bible.
How many other religions, try to say that Evolution is a fraud, and the Creative Intelligence is a science.
If you wonder why the rest of us, are sick and tired of those Christians, and I use that term loosely, pushing their beliefs on the rest of us, now you know why.
You are more than welcome, to worship as you please. The Constitution protects that right. But it doesnt give the Christians, the right to try to force us to accept their faith.
Sadly, all Christians, are now being labled as intolerant, and close minded, by those evangelicals, and right wing so called Christians. That's not what I believe Christianity to be all about
Where is that love thy neighbor as thyself.? That seems to have gone the way of good manners and Christian Charity.

Pity only has one t, but --yeah, you're right. My dad was in a power-plant in Detroit when it exploded. Because he was one of the majority of the men that escaped, he thinks God saved him. My 22-year old brother died a year ago. He believes God took him. He criticizes me for not going to Catholic Mass on Sunday. He mistreated my mom until she left him. Now he tells everyone that he can that she was a cheater--despite not having any evidence. He then got a new woman a week after the divorce and has now admitted to me he is sleeping with her. I try to tell him that fornication is a mortal sin in the church's eyes (i.e. capable of causing a complete destruction of ones relationship with God), but he doesn't even understand. What a guy, ay?

Not really. Most come across to be listening to what a non is saying, but it seems they only use that to try to find a hole in order to get their own belief in there somehow. I haven't met too many Christians who would agree on a given topic, in general, with someone who is a non.

MOST Christians ar open minded. however, thereare very few on this web site, and you won't find them qouting scriptures amd damning people to hell. Most christians realize that you aren't going to get converts with lectures and threats, but with deeds and actions

They cannot be open minded because Jesus told them to walk the straight and NARROW that he is the way, the truth and the life and WITHOUT him you can't go to god.
