Being "reborn" as you say, or being "born from above," as Jesus described the miracle to Nicodemus is the only way a person becomes a Christ-like individual. As described in the Scriptures, being born again involves a series of miracles that happen over periods of time, different for each of us.
First, according to Rom.4:17, God enlivens the dead human spirit, because according to this verse, it is "God, who lives life to the dead, and calls the things that are not as though they be." Now that our human spirit is enlivened, it's positioned to be "invaded" by an outside life force, in this case, the Holy Spirit, but three additional miracles must first occur.
1. God positions the person, with the newly enlivened human spirit, to hear the gospel, because the gospel " . . .is the power of God unto salvation for everyonewho believes ," according to Rom. 1:16. As the gospel messages moves through the air toward the person's ears who is about to be born again, God attaches to the message the faith required to believe the gospel, because faith is a gift of God (see Eph. 2:8). So when the gospel message enters the person's ears, so does the believing faith. Thus faith comes by hearing the word of the Lord, as explainedin Rom. 10:17. 2. At the moment of belief, Jesus circumcises the sinful nature. See Col. 2:11-12: "In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men, but the circumcision done by Christ." 3. With the exit of the sinful nature, the Holy Spirit unites with our human spirit, and according to 2Cor. 5:17, that individual is a new creation, aka "in Christ." The old has gone--(the sinful nature); the new has come (the God-like nature, via the Holy Spirit). All this is from God who reconciled us to Himself through Christ.
That's what it means to be born again. That's my experience. I hope you share it. To God be the glory!

I went to church for a long time, and began to feel very guilty for the things in my life that were wrong. Then someone showed me in the Bible how God can't let sin into heaven and the only way to get rid of sin is to confess and turn away from sinning and ask Jesus to be the Lord of my life. I did that and I have never been the same. There was an instant change in my heart, and I found I no longer wanted to do things that were wrong.

Being born again is a process that takes time and studying to find the real god, the real Jesus, and the real church. When you find the real god and real Jesus and accept him into your life you must be baptized in his name and then lead a life as he did. In almost all cases it means giving up everything you have been taught and starting anew and keeping gods comandment of the Mosaic law.
Some will tell you that those laws were changed when Jesus died on the cross but just remember what Jesus said in Matthew 5: 17-18 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the Prophets, for I have not come to destroy but to fulfil. For Verily I say to you that til heaven and earth pass, not one jot or one title shall pass from the law til all be fulfiled." All cannot be fulfilled until Jesus comes back again and sets up his kingdom.
I recently found the real Jesus and the real god and when I gave my life to him it changed my whole perspective on things. For the first time in my life I found peace with myself and my life and I now know what my purpose is and what I will inherit when the Lord comes back. Here are two websites to look at to find the real Jesus. www.tomorrowsworld.com and www.thekeyofdavid.com. These two website will give you access to literature on the real Jesus and his real church and also has weekly shows you can watch online to learn more about him and his church.

No...im not Christian but I know that the only way to heaven Is through Jesus. Being reborn. is a denial of your flesh to pick up your cross( your whole being/will) and follow him. Being born again is accepting him into your heart and live for Jesus

Some people were praying to me and showing me in the Bible that I needed to be saved. One day I was at work and I had this feeling that if I died that day I would go to hell.. I went to the church where they were praying for me and talked to the Pastor and he showed me in the Bible that I needed to be born again and ask forgivness of my sind. We got on our knees and prayed and when I finished I was changed inside. Kind of like the one above where she talks about her sister.. It hasn't always been easy, but it has always been the right thing to do.. If you pray the way the Bible instructs, you will get the same results..
You have to make Jesus the boss (lord) of your life..

I was led to the Lord, by the Holy Spirit in someone God was using. I prayed and accepted Jesus into my heart. The Christian walk isn't the easy one, but it is the right one.

Kelly, if you know the only way to Heaven is thru Jesus, why aren't you a Christian? You don't want to go to Heaven?
