There is no 2005 version of Windows. Well, there is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, but it's basically Windows XP with a few enhancements.
Windows 1.0 released in 1985 was the first version. The first version to begin gaining noteable popularity was Windows 3.0/3.1 in the late 80's early 90s. Windows NT 3.1 was the first version of Windows that was pure 32bit released in the early 90s, if I remember correctly.

There were prototypes at rev 1, the 3.0 made a big splash when introduced, shortly thereafter replaced with 3.11.
Currently we're at XP (pro and home versions, as well as media center flavor), and Vista comes out next year.

The first version of Windows was called, Peep-Hole. It was introduced in 1923 but didn't go very far since most people didn't have computers back then.
