it is all about what your heart and income will allow you to do. Don't let your in-laws pressure you to do something you can't afford or don't want to do. I am about to have a baby, and I received some very nice things that the person accidentally left the price tag on and later, I noticed that they only cost $2-3. It doesn't matter how much it costs--the person receiving the gift should be gracious and grateful. I will use everything and am grateful for all I received, whether it was $50 or .50! Every little bit helps.

If they are asking for a $200. gift , I would just stay home . If they are that needy just send them a money order for $10.00 and a note that says it it not the amount it is the thought . Sounds like your bending over backwards just to be there . then they have the nerve to ask you to spend that much . If you do go , with a trip that long , buy some yarn and make something along the way , in 20 hours you could make a small blanket , and that will last much longer , and you will feel much better , if you do go .

It depends on who the baby shower is for. If it's a best friend or family member I'll spend 50 or 60 maybe a little more but if it's for just a friend that I dont really see a whole lot I'll spend around 30 or 40.

well u should let your inlaws know you need to think about your family too....your already driving 20 hrs tht alone is enuff the way gas prices are today and it shouldnt matter what the gift cost its the thought from your heart tht should count the most...so you do what you feel best doing...dont let noone talk you into a 200 gift for a baby the baby will grow before you know it and you need money for your family!!

you should decide how much you want to spend, and don't do it because others tell you to do it... When you make a gift, it's suppoesed to be your decision, and make it out of love, not because you feel guilty ... at least I don't let anybody push me around... You work hard for your money, so you alone should decide how you spend it... The good thing is that the baby will not care at all who gave what... he/she only wants boob juice for a while, so don't worry, do what feels right in your heart

i would say give her a gift that you think that she would like and need and that would be in your price range. everyone needs diapers and they will get used!!! and they arent that expensive....also consider getting a size other than newborn because babies grow fast and sometimes not all babies fit in newborn at birth...if you get a brand where they know where they come from they can always exchange them if needed
