Umm well I wouldn't ,because out of concern of your dogs scence you don't know the answer to this question and are asking for help on yahoo, whichprobaly means ou dont know what your doing.Did you know many chihuahas have problems giving birth and need the puppies surgicaly removed?Spare your dog theres enough in the shelters and don't breed her, all your doing is adding to the dogs in shelters or on the street and risking your dogs life.Which is more unethical then haveing a brother and sister mate.

It depends on their parents etc how far back have they been inbred? this is what makes a "pure" breed BTW It is far safer if you don't know about their parents to have your male neutered if you want puppies. just use an unrelated male. do they have papers? I do not like breeding litter mates, myself but I have two breeders that are half siblings same father, RIP, but different mothers. Has she gone into heat yet? (don't let her breed on her first heat either let her mature fully first) If this will be the first or second case of inbreeding in their family line then it would be OK. make sure you have buyers that are willing to take such closely inbred pups. Some are some aren't the closer the line gets the more pure the More problems!

By allowing your dogs to mate with each other and they are brother and sister, is not a wise and healthy idea. If bred together, the puppies will be inbred. Inbreeding is not healthy for the mother or her new puppies. Some puppies could be born dead while others could have severe health problems causing more heartache to you and the mother. Inbred dogs often develope complicated illnesses too that can be rather costly and a inbred puppy is hard to sell as well.
Do yourself and your female dog a favor. If you want her to be bred, take her to a place where she can be bred by her own breed of dog that isn't related to her. Or have both your dogs fixed.
Good luck to you and to your dogs! May your dogs provide you with unconditional love, companionship, and friendship for many years to come!
I hope I was some what helpful!

If you want deformed puppies or puppies that are at a higher risk for eplisey or other health related problems go right ahead and breed them.
If you are going to be a responsible dog owner get some facts and get a clue before you do anything of the sort.
This is the reason so many dogs have so many health problems indiscriminate breeding practices with poor quality or unknown quality breeding stock.

If you don't know the answer to this question on your own, you have no business breeding dogs. Breeding dogs is serious business, and people who casually breed dogs, with any knowledge or experience are the reason why there are so many homeless dogs in shelters. Are you prepared for the expenses involved in breeding? Vet bills? The best thing you could do is take both of your dogs to the vet and have them spayed and neutered. Don't add to the large problem that already exits!

No you shouldn't this is called inbreeding and you could end up with some very unhealthy puppies down the line. It may or may not show right away but it will show up.
It really isn't just ethics but has more to do with genetic problems. You need to have them neutered and spayed or at leas neuter the male so he cannot get her pregnant.
Not even breeder who line breed will inbreed a brother and sister.
Did you buy 2 so that you could breed them? If so you should have bought 2 unrelated dogs

Moonfairy.."did you buy them just so you can breed the two? If so, You should have bought two unrelated dogs."
That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. If someones reason for getting two dogs, is so they can have puppies..they shouldn't own dogs.
You need to spay and neuter BOTH dogs..and NOT breed them. There is no reason too. Chihuahuas are a very popular breed, and are filling up in shelters all across america. You need to think about this instead of "Oh I want cute little puppies.."

A bother and sister share the same genes and should not be bred. It is fine however to breed daughter to father or brother to mother as they only share 1/2 the same genes. Breeding brother and sister can produce birth defects.

I wouldn't because you know with people if they marry there sibling the baby could end up messed up. So if you mata your Chihuahas if they have a puppy it could have problems and die.

Your friend is right. That's a good way to set the puppies up for a lifetime of health problems related to their genetics.
