Im so tired of hearing that excuse for the blatant errors and contradictions of the Koran.

Ive never heard a christain say you have to learn aramaic, or greek, or whatever to get the real reason for his messages.

Ive never heard a Hindu say learn another language either.

Odd that Islam is the only relgion to ever say that !

That "much is lost in translation" is not a matter for debate. This fact seems not to have escaped the author of the Koran. Many valid criticisms of the Old Testament and New Testament refer to the differences in translations (within the SAME freaking language), and many religious scholars will tell you that the true meaning cannot be discerned without learning the original language - you just haven't met them, yet.

The question of "fairness" is a non-sequiter. By writing the Koran in Arabic, and invalidating any translation, G*d (Allah) is showing a preference for the children of Ishmael over the children of Isaac. How much easier must it be if the word of G*d is in your native tongue? This is neither "fair" nor "unfair" - it just /is/, if you accept the Koran as divinely inspired (I don't.) That said, invalidating "the Koran in translation" seems a good way to make sure that people can't point to "translation" as an explanation for contradiction.

If you want to know what's going on the Koran, you can rely on a translation of it and ignore the part about how you're wrong for even thinking that was valid. Have you done that, yet? If you /really/ want to understand, you'll find someone who understands Arabic, and will interpret the Koran for you. I suspect that you fall into the 3rd category - you could care less about the Koran cos you've heard enough, and think it's all a bunch of crap, so you'll just badmouth it and those who revere it. Add to that, most of your "question" is annecdotal and unsubstantiated opinion, and not related to your question in a qualitative way, so I'll ignore it.

I've given your question my best honest shot. I hope it works for you.

It is VERY fair and just, because it is true. To even try to grasp and understand the meaning of the Holy Qur´an, some people (Arab speaking) actually spend their whole lifes.
It is also true that we have the full text in the same manner that was written, and not edited infinitely like the Bible, where in the middle ages you had to purchase a new edition every year, according to the will and fashion of the church at the moment, or otherwise you were called a sinner. But you see no signs on all this.

You say you have not heard it from other religions stating the concept that it is preferable to learn the original language to avoid mistakes in the translation, now you have a testimony from people of other religions on how they´ve been told that, so now your question does not hold anymore, or does it?

Furthermore, I do not speak arabic, and I am a Muslim, so it only takes for you to try and find the best possible translation you can find, and a discerning soul, to be able to understand the message of the Qur´an... please quote what translations you have been reading, and who were they made by, because we Muslims prefer the translation of a believer, with all the defects it may have, but made with a true intention (good intention is basilar to our religion).

The good intention you are unable to show, when spreading your hate for Islam based on ignorance and misinformation. It is like that other (non Muslim) girl said, that you have decided already that it is all a bunch of c**p and no matter what evidence is put in front of you, you will not change your ideas or ways.

Allah Most Merciful, Most Compassionate, has warned us in the Holy Qur´an about your kind. May He show you His infinite compassion and make you realise... by now, anyone with a heart would have started to understand... Insh´Allah you will too...

I just found out that the hebrew meaning of virgin is nothing more than an unmarried woman. So have our books been tampered with? Maybe we'd do well to learn hebrew and greek and learn the true message.
Im not saying be Muslim but if you are shouldn't you learn the language?
Jews studyhebrew from birth on.
So like the game telephone, something gets lost in translation therefore needing to lean on the holy spirit.

Oh, and here's a true definition of insanity
doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result
has nothing to do whatsoever with knowing right from wrong.
So now how many are unjustly imprisioned on this wrong translation.

The Quran doesnt have errors or contradictions, please provide some evidence to back your claim.
The Arabic in the Quran is the highest Arabic in the whole world, many words can mean one thing that is why it is suggested to learn it in order to understand the Quran. The Arabic isnt spoken or written anywhere because it is from God, you cannot match it. Besides, to learn it would give is rewards from God, wouldnt everone want that? Thats why Allah is the fair and just Lord but it isnt compulsory on us.
It is easy to claim that there are supposed errors in the Quran but I bet you would find it difficult to actually sit down patiently and understand its message, dont just claim things on false evidence.

Islam is not the only religion that says that, but this shouldn't bother you.

Go ask a Constitutional lawyer if someone wo doesn't speak English can really argue US Con law or fully understand the US Constitution or the subtlety of the language and word choice.

but I've heard many Christan say that I should learn Aramaic and Greek to really understand the bible, I hear that every time I say to them that there are lots of contradictions in the bible, and this is the only answer I get.
Jews also told me that I should learn Hebrew language to understand the old testament.

The message of Islam is such a simple one - There is but one God and it is that God who controls everything - accept that and there's nothing to argue about... Islam completes and clarifies the messages of the Torah and the Bible - who through poor copying and translation became frought with errors... The Arabic of the Qur'an is very complex - but there is no compulsion to learn it in order to accept and understand Islam... Alhumdullilah! Allah (swt) is Merciful may He show you mercy!

There is nothing fair or just about the "religion" of allah. It teaches killing and hate of others. There are so many contradictions, they speak of love and peace but teach murder of people that don't believe like they do .Besides there is only one TRUE GOD.He is the LORD GOD who devinely inspired the HOLY BIBLE.All others are false gods, inspired by and promoted by satan himself.

Opinions are like biological parts ... we all have them ...

To bother exploring a decent translation is basic ...Otherwise you are like a Creationist bashing evolution ...who nevers studies the science behind it ...

It is laziness to accept a poor translation ...and then set yourself up as an authority ...

It is 'better' if you can do it!
But remember this :

On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged.
