It is the typical method of an insecure position. If you can not win them over with logic, batter them down with hate and anger.
It is very much like the message at 2Timothy 3:1-5 that speaks of the last days of this system under Satans rule and how people will act toward one another.
"1 But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away."

What's ironic about the anger is that "conservatives" are the first ones to wave the Bible in your face and the last people following the true teachings of Jesus.
Jesus was the hippie ideal. Good luck trying to teach that to a conservative.

I guess it is. I'm glad *love being a mom* isn't my mom! I thought it was a good question, though my response would have been more towards those conservatives that are extremists... to which, it seems, they are ALL on the friggin net!

We should walk away when we are angry, and pray to God to take it from us then take some deep breathes and think about a better way to cool down and handle a situation.

Belief is always stronger than truth.
You're messing with someone's belief's, so they wanna kick your butt. Shatter someone's beliefs, and you've wrecked their reality. hence, the resentment.
