her teeth are very prominant and i don't know how to broach the subject. i'm afraid for her feelings as the beaver comments appear to be heard more and more frequently. should i bite the bullet and tell leila that people are constantly making carrot munching actions at her behind her back? i feel that if the dentist filed half a cm off she may look more normal, i don't want to hurt her feelings though!!

Just come out with it. Say "Hey Leila, you know you could eat an apple through a letterbox, mate, and that's not a good thing".

you do not say how old leila is. if she is young she most likely will grow into her teeth and if you say something i am betting it will make her self concious.

taking enamel off of a tooth is a complicated business that isn't taken likely at all.

if and when she has a problem with the way her teeth look then she can broach the subject herself.

in the meantime, overlook her flaws as i am sure she overlooks yours

Tell me if you are fat should they say. Did you know your fat? If your short should they say. Wow did you know your short? Trust me she already knows. Give me a break! People in this world just do not get a clue that sometimes people just know their faults already. It's nice to meet someone so perfect with no faults that they can sit in judgement of someone else.

I don't think you need to say anything about it to her. Believe me she is quite aware of herself. If she chooses to do something about it great, if not, it's her business. You saying something will just make her feel self conscious and hurt her feelings. She's your friend, how she looks should not be any kind of factor to you.

She probably already realizes that she has an overbite. Telling her might make her more self-concious about it.
