People still buy these h1 hummers with 2mph for no reason! Just want to look cool or something. I see suv's because they need space, but why do 1 or 2 people still buy this stuff? This happens with other cars too.

People make personal choices about their transportation based on many things. Some folks do not own a vehicle and rely on public transportation. Some buy little gas savers, and drive them, Some buy bigger cars or SUVS.

Just because you do not see the need for someone to own a vehicle like a Hummer, that does not mean that they should not have what they want and are willing to work and pay for! We live in a country where you still have a choice .

Look, genius, First, H1s are not going to be sold to the public any more. AM General decided that they would put all their manufacturing capacity into military production. Second, if you did even a small amount of research, you would know that pure ethanol is less efficient than gasoline and cannot be used in a standard gasoline engine. The fuel system must be modified if you burn any more than a 10 percent ethanol-to-gasoline mix. It is also expensive to produce, and there is not even close to enough manufacturing capacity to make it feasible. Third, Hummers travel at more than 2 mph. Last, it's a free country. If you want the government to restrict what you can buy and drive, you could always move to a country that could accomodate your wishes. Like Russia or China. Maybe Iran or Iraq.

People buy Hummers and big pickups because they can afford to keep and run one and they're fun to have, Remember also that the person may have a reason for driving one . Actually an H1 Hummer gets about 10 MPG and thats not bad.

There isn't a big market for ethanol yet because there aren't many factories that produce it, and there are many processes in making it. There are ethanol factories around, but mostly in areas where theres a lot of corn grown. Those area gas stations then usually have an ethanol option.

Like clothing, cars are necessities that have morphed into fashion accessories. Nobody *needs* a hummer, just like no one needs a $400 pair of jeans.

And by the way, ethanol is just as expensive as gas (it costs less dollar-wise, but it contains less energy than gasoline, so you need more of it), and is relatively hard to get in many places. It's cleaner, but that's not enough for most people.

some still drive them because they can not afford to get something else, the ones that are getting them now are just stupid. about ethanol i don't know where to get it i have never seen it in my area if it was more available i would jump on it and get a car that ran on it but if i am going to have to drive 50 miles out of the way to find it then it is not worth it

Ethanol is not available everywhere, and not all cars are capable of running on it, even if it were available. As soon as alternative fuels become more readily available, people will begin switching over, particularly if it is cheaper than conventional fuel.

People who can afford it should be able to drive whatever they want. If someone can afford a $80K car and it gets 5 mpg then I say more power to them. If we want to drive huge suv's live in obnoxiously huge homes, fly jets, the I think we should be able too.
