You first have to assume that there is a wrathful God to be safe from, and that Jesus is the only way to appease him. If you buy that, then, yes, being ultimately safe is the same as born again.

When u give ur life to JesusCrist u r being born again in the way as if saying u r starting over from the begging but with Jesus in command of ur life. At the same time u r saved because u have him in ur heart, soul, and mind where ever u go. Tell people about how God saved ur life, u are also doing the purpose of God when u tell people about him.

A clergyman wrote that at "the moment of simple faith in Christ . . . one's destiny is permanently settled." He claimed that the Bible says that salvation depends on a single, one-time "act of faith, not on the continuity of faith." Another religion writer wrote: "This is a finished work. It has already been accomplished for you . . . Your 'warfare has ended.' Your 'iniquity has been removed.'" But even people who are firmly convinced that this is true may see a problem here. It is obvious that many people who have been told that they are "saved" do not live the way the Bible says they should. A common explanation is that perhaps they had not really "accepted" Christ.

So, what does "accepting" Jesus really mean? Is it a one-time act of faith, or is it a continuing way of life? Must our belief be strong enough to motivate us to action? Can we really accept the benefits of Jesus' sacrifice without the responsibility of following him?

If you mean saved, then born again and saved are the same thing. The Bible says we must be born again to enter into the kingdom of heaven and also says if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and confess your sin, then you will be saved. I think the phrase "saved" came from when people used to say "saved from hell".

Hey, that's a really nice question... and it's important, cause Jesus himself took his time to explain this to Nicodemus!

Being "saved" means that you will have eternal life. (Instead of eternal suffering!). John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

So, to have salvation you just have to believe in Jesus and ask him to be your Saviour! It's a personal choice, and this is is only the first step!

Now, concerning the New Birth, here's what Jesus say:
"Jesus said in answer, Truly, I say to you, If a man's birth is not from water and from the Spirit, it is not possible for him to go into the kingdom of God." (John 3:5)

The birth from water is baptism, not as a baby, but as a grown-up that is perfectly conscientious about what he's doing.

Then the birth of the Spirit, that is best explained in Colossians 3:1-3 "If then you have a new life with Christ, give your attention to the things of heaven, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Keep your mind on the higher things, not on the things of earth. For your life on earth is done, and you have a secret life with Christ in God."

This means, after salvation, a christian must have a "spiritual growth"... it's not only about the choice of salvation and the baptism, but a change must be noticed in your life! As Paul says, you're now dead to this earth, you have to live a life according to God's will as the Bible teaches you... (for the Bible is God's word!)

I hope this helped a little... go on with your Spiritual Growth!!!
Blessings.

You are saved by the grace of God when you ask for forgiveness and confess that you are a sinner .... you are re-born when you are baptized and cleansed free from your previous sins that you have asked forgiveness for and separate the old you ( maybe an old lifestyle or un-godly friends) and start hungering and thirsting after who you can be, living your life for God and not yourself.
