Caffiene isn't completely negative, but Pepsi is extremely high in sugar and calories. Switch to black coffee or green tea, and if you want to sweeten it use "Splenda", its is a nero calorie sweetener without the aspartame.

Cut out the nightime snacking, many times when we wake up in the middle of the night it is due to being thirsty not hungry, try drinking some water. Try fruit before reaching for the sweets.

Basic activity such as walking is a must.

Drink more water, at least 2 litres per day. In general stick to the perimeter of the grocery store: fruits, veggies, wholegrains, low-fat dairy (fat free yogurt, skim milk), lean meats (chicken, turkey, fish), and snack on nuts or dried fruit instead of chips or sweets.

You answered your own question, you are not really eating well and you aren't getting a lot of exercise. As to the exercise, just a few target moves aren't enough. You need to get out and get moving. A gym is best, but if that won't fit your budget, then start walking and walking and walking with your baby. That's free and easy.

As to eating, well..you really HAVE TO cut out the midnight snacking. It will sabotage any other effort. To help with this, here's a few ideas:

1. Don't starve yourself during the day (it causes the binge) but you do need to eat well.
2. Make sure your diet has plenty of good protein.
3. Eat lots of veges. I never met someone who eats lots of veges with a weight problem.
4. Don't forget to drink at least 2 quarts of water a day.
5. Eliminate soda from your diet completely. Even diet soda has been shown to increase your cravings for other sweets. Better to drink unsweetened tea (or use a little splenda in it) or good old fashioned water.
6. Try to eliminate as many simple carbohydrates as possible from your diet. This means no white rice, potatoes or pasta. Breads and pastas need to be whole grain (not just wheat..but really 100% whole grain). You can eat yukon gold or red potatoes, but the classic russsett is off limits. Eat the carbs you do eat in moderation.

A biggie -
Stop bringing the junk food into the house. If it isn't there, you won't eat it. The kids don't need it. The spouse doesn't need it. Just don't buy it (added bonus your grocery bill will go down)

As to the caffeine headaches, I too am a migraine sufferer and a caffeine addict. Stick to tea, again, unsweetened or sweetened with splenda (do not use equal or apartame). Green tea is really good and you can find flavored green tea in the market that makes great ice tea. I drink my coffee black.

If you wean yourself gradually down in the amount of caffeine you are consuming you can actually end the addiction. If you stop cold turkey it will make you sick.

The pepsi MUST go. I have NEVER seen a morbidly obese person who didn't have a big soda addiction. Soda is very, very bad!

While your diet needs an overall overhaul, I suspect just elminating the pepsi AND the midnight snacking will start your weight loss off.

Good luck.

i was going to be a personal trainer - but now im going to be a teacher - but i still go to the gym every day and obsess about healthy foods and weight, but what girl doesnt!?! its always a pain to try and loose weight... try and aim for at least a half an hour of cardio 3/4 xs a week (make the time)... its also soo true what health magazines say - toning helps loose weight! buy a cheap pair of 5 or 6 lb weights and do arm exercises daily (during tv, when u first wake up, or right before bed). Also, i have the worst sweet tooth too... what i realized that works really well is treat yourself to something small during the day - i really like dried pinapples cause they are really sweet - or even have two cookies or whatever your preference is... then at night you won't feel the earge to want sweets as much because you already had some... another option is to have lolly pops or sugar free ice pops at night - the sweetness curbs your cravings and also they are low in calories!! hope this helps!! (also, dont expect to see a change overnight - you are going to have to weight at least 3 months to see a change within yourself - but you are going to have to stick with eatting healthy & small portions.. i also recommend lots and lots of protein and fiber - they help you stay fuller longer,,, oh- and also try and eat 300-400 calorie meals 4-5 times a day - keeps your metabolism going!!)

It is easy.It takes discipline but it is easy.Always remember that nothing in the world can make you fat . EXCEPT FAT.It is not sugar or sweetness that makes you fat but the added fat, oil, butter, margarine, olive oil.Any thing that is fatty will make you fat.If you can avoid oily/fatty stuff and do your exercises you should loose more of your size.It depends on your bone structure.A large structure will be heavier.Pasta 7 times a day is fine but do not add a creamy rich sauce.Lean meat once a week is fine but do not fry it in oil.Skinless chicken breast twice a week is fine.Remember that the body does not distinguish between good fat(Omega 3)from fish and bad fat(animal or plant oil)To your body fat is fat and being a woman your body will try to store is for childbearing. It is how God made woman.Do not fight it.Try to control it.Do not keep cookies in the house .Crisps are another danger for it is baked in oil.Do not try to diet in the most accepted sense of the word.It has never succeeded. It is a short term solution and it makes your body even more determined to store fat.Find a good dietitian to work out a program for you.She/he will also be able to tell you how to prepare food to taste delicious without using fat/oil for preparation.Egg yellow is a no-no but the white of an egg is fine as long as it is not fried in oil.Instead of Mayonnaise use fat free yogurt.Fat free means less than 3% total fat content per 100gram or milliliter of what ever.Do not be fooled by low fat products such as milk.Full cream milk contains 3% fat solids.Low fat milk contains 2%.Use fat free milk. This is such a large field and everybody that sells something will try and sell you the wrong thing.Be aware and read your labels in store before you pay for it.In more ways than one.I am editing my reply. Please do not listen to all these people. One even suggests eliminating carbo`s.That is exactly the thing that causes diets to fail.Don't avoid sweet stuff but be aware the the sweetness goes hand in hand with fatty stuff, example chocolates.Even cake icing would be fine except for the fact that it contains more oil than sugar.REMEMBER THAT ONLY FAT CAN MAKE FAT IN THE BODY.Rather see a dietitian. If she /he says cut out sugar find another one.Every body blames sugar. Fat is the problem.Sugar gets added to all types of stuff to hide the fat.I say again be aware read the labels.

There are several keys to weight loss, not all of them including intense exercise:
1. Eat foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, such as baked halibut and sweet potatoes (yum!).
2. Moderation is the key. If you want a cupcake, have one. Just don't devour the whole pan.
3. Reduce caffiene. It helps you sleep.
4. Eat variety - the most common but useful tip.
5. When exercising, do a little a day. Go from light and slow jogging to harder pushups.
Happy weight losing! (Ha ha.)

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then your consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity. Get a fitness calculator that you can put on your cell phone and computer. This will allow you to easily calculate this formula, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as white potatoes) and drink lots of water.

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with excellent resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter.

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. I would try Nutrisystem...I am doing it and I am having great success. I gained weight due to an injury and meds that messed up my hormones, and this is really working for me. Sometimes when you are hormonally unbalanced, it can mess with your sugar levels. This diet works with a glycemic index so it will not spike sugar levels. The food is not that expensive when you break it all down and it is yummy so I have no cravings. Plus, it teaches you how to portion your food without really depriving you. It also encourages you to have a regular workout scheldule. It really keeps me on point. I must sound like a commercial, but I love it!! Hope it works for you too. www.nutrisystem.com

Try and drink some water... or walk for about 30 minutes a day.. I am guessing since you have kids it might be harder for you but get a stroller and take them out with you :) for about 3-4 days a week .. you'll both enjoy it!!!!
