There are two guys; they're practically my best buds right now; Y and R. What makes it complicated was, I had a crush on R. Honestly, it's hard to tell if the other side had any feelings for me as well, because sometimes, he looked like he does have feelings but sometimes he doesn't. Anyway, things get more tangled up when Y recently asked for a chance to date me. Unfortunately, I had only my eyes on R, and I have no idea how to turn the Y down nicely. It would be unfair for him to date him while I still have my thoughts on R so.....how should I say it to him? Also...I did explain to Y before that I already have someone in my mind but he still asked for a chance. Is it alright to give him a chance....or? I don't want to mess up and end up breaking our current friendship.

Well explain once again, in a calm, reasonable manner to Y that you do not want to date him for the time being. And if you think your crush on R might someday die off, then maybe you could tell him that if you ever want to date him then you will ask him but till then, you just want to stay friends like you always have been. If he still does not understand then explain to him that your heart is set on another guy and you want to see what comes of that guy before you date Y. I hope this information has been of assistance. If you need anymore help, then feel free to contact me (although I don't know how much I will be able to help, but I will do what I can).

If I were you in that situation , and I'm not, I would keep my options open. That would be my first test for R and Y. I would be tatally honest with both of them. I would date them both, and see who I liked best over time, maybe date another person or two if I could find them too. Just see who likes you most and who you like most. These things are always messy. If you honest about it all, they remain true friends anyway, if they really ever were. You don't want someone who values his happiness more that yours, you want someone who values yours at least as much as his I think. These thins are always a bit messy, thats why its important to be clear and honest with all who are or might be involved.

How about straight out. Guys don't want to be led on. It may hurt him, but he'll get over it if he is a good friend. He won't like it but no guy likes to get turned down. Just make sure you carefully tell him the complete truth.

You have to be careful cause whatever you do, you don't want to do anything to ruin your friendship. You have to be gentle and let him down easy. You have to get straight to point in a nice way.
When you break someones heart it is never easy but it is the way and the tone that you use.

Never turn down a friend, unless you know the other guy real well you have no reason to risk it, do want a guy you know is nice or a guy that you don't know much about

you could tell him you have a policy against dating friends, but then if you date R you are a liar and will hurt his feelings. i'm thinking though that if R wanted to be with you he would've made a move so i think you should give Y a chance.

merely say no thanks. Or take the drink and revel in, men who deliver beverages out in a bar comprehend there's a strong shot they are going to be grew to change into down and many times deliver out some each and every nighttime.

if you have time..the best choice is to let the situation play itself out...wait for someone to screw up...either R o Y is bound to goof up enough that you have reason to choose one over the other and not feel as bad about it..as long as it is just a crush YOU have..no biggie
