Of course they don't work. If it was that easy and cheap, people wouldn't spend millions each year on flea products from the vet!!!! The collar keeps the fleas off the neck, but the fleas just move to the back of the animal and feed there. The chemicals are toxic to many pets and kids also. They are also a choking hazard for outdoor pets.
You might as well flush the money you spend on them right down the crapper!!!!!!!!!

There are two types, the chemical and the herbal. The herbal ones are supposed to repel fleas, the chemical ones contain insecticide and poison them.
Unfortunately they don't work , they might have been a good idea 20 years ago but these days you get much better stuff from the vet.
The collars leave poison on your dogs neck which is harmful to you and your kids if they pet your dog then put their fingers in their mouth. If you have another pet and they play fight, the other pet can get poisoned too.
Some dogs are allergic to the collars, the hair falls out around their neck and they get a rash. I wish they could be banned.
Plus as someone else said, the fleas just move to the back end of your pet and feed there.
Just hoover your house and the dog bed once a day, wash their bedding in hot water (no detergent or fabric conditioner) once a week, comb your pet once a day and use the stuff from the vet once a month.
Remember that fleas transmit tapeworm so your pet will need worming too.

Fleas need to drink and they do that from your dog's eye.
On their way there, they come into contact with the insecticide on the collar.
Other insecticides like Frontline are squirted between the dogs shoulders for the same reason.
Flea collars do work but are not a good idea if you have children or other pets and are not terribly efficient if the dog gets wet. Better to use flea shampoo once every six weeks and Frontline as directed. Prevention is always better than cure but if you have an infestation don't forget to spray his bedding as well.

flea collars work for the chemicals. Make your own collar natural by soaking it in lavender oil. It will keep fleas off your pet for about 3 weeks.
But I find giving the pill advatax plus or frontline plus both last about 3-4 weeks. you can also get a vitamin b supplement from your pharmacy I don't know how long that will work for though and don't know how much to give

I have had my dog 15 years and all the flea collars i have had did not work. You can buy a dog shampoo called armitage pet care which repels fleas from most pet shops for only a few pounds. I use this on my dog once a month and find it very good.

I would suggest not using a flea collar. Half the time they don't work or fall off. I would use Advantix, you apply it once a month and it repels fleas, ticks and mosquitos. And its easy to use

Flea collars have this chemical that can harm the fleas, so they stay away. But the chemicals do not have your dog or cat.

their is an smell on the collar which gets into the skin and so stops fleas biting, just like us when we go on holiday and take garlic tablets before we go, so mosquitoes don't like the smell on the skin so they don't bite
