Pasta consists of mostly good carbs! The simple carbs, mainly sugar, are the ones you have to watch out for; my runner's magazine says you shouldn't get more than 80 grams per day of those sugars. But the complex carbs, found in pasta, breads, etc. are the ones that fuel your body. If you're working out, definitely eat that pasta! One cup (a pretty darn generous amount) is around 210 calories. Add some tomato sauce and a nice salad, and the meal is 250 to 300 calories. And filling too!

If you're worried, whole wheat pasta is even better for your diet.

just one food does not usually make or break a diet. It has a lot more to do with how many calories you are consuming than anything else.

That said, studies have shown that if you compare two diets that are identical in calories and one is low fat/high carb, and the other high fat/low carb, the low carb diet does result in more weight loss AND..more importantly more fat versus muscle being lost.

So..l guess we have no clue what sort of diet you have concocted, so it is tough to tell you for sure, but....

plain old white pasta has very little nutrition in it and on ANY diet, since you should be limiting calories and portions, it is really important that what you eat be nutritious.

So if you are craving pasta, look towards either a low carb pasta - Dreamfields makes an excellent one you can barely distinquish from the regular stuff (get it at the grocery store), OR look for whole wheat or quinoa pasta. The latter two are not low carb but they are high fiber and still better for you than plain old white pasta.

while trying to tone up, you need to pay very close attention to your calorie intake as well as your carbohydrate intake. My advice to you would be read up on the -glycemic index- which is a way of rating carbohydrates on a number system, the lower the number the better it will be for you. You can look it up on yahoo or google and im sure you will get good informaton. Also remember that its not just about cutting out fat, fat is good for you as long as its from good sources. As for pasta fetticinne is the best for you in my opinion because it is the lower on the glycemic index and it takes the longest to diegest in your body.

Stick to whole-grain pasta. Also, I do not advocate cheese when dieting, the fat content is enough reason to avoid it.

Pasta is great for you. Most foods that aren't considered snack foods are great for you.

Lack of physical activity is what kills people. 99% of people can not JUST diet and still lose weight.
