I camped in a couple of car parks arround the country, neither had signs saying "NO CAMPING or OVERNIGHT SLEEPING". Is it illegal to do so?
I heard it was OK to park up for 48 h and sleep in your campervan.

If there are signs saying you cant then they will be legally enforceable. Anywhere else you can plead ignorance.

The police will hassle you. No point in even trying in our so called free country. Find a campsite. If you camp on National Trust land and get caught, you are in serious trouble. The problem is we don't really have common land anymore and landowners don't want anyone having fun without making money out of it.
Just my cynical opinion

Not sure what the law is.

The police may stop and question you from my experience. probably safer and esier to find a campsite.
