I am going through a divorce while pregnant with my 4th child and have always known that I would get my tubes tied after this birth. Now my doctor doens't want me to in fear that I may remarry someone who wants children of their own. Do you consider a woman "less of marriage material" if she was fixed?

To clarify the divorce: I'm pregnant and my husband decided he'd rather have my friend than me and his kids: ******! Yes, I want my tubes tied but I'm afraid that I may decide that I want a child with another man if I fall in love again.

It's a positive for me as I do not want children. It all depends on what he wants out of marriage (besides you). If he wants a child, then you will be "disqualified". I believe, a matter of child is nothing that two can reach a compromise. Perhaps compromise is possible, but at minimum, one of the partners will be "imcomplete" and "dissatisfied."

Bigger question is, having 4 of your own already, if he wants another one, are you willing? If you are having this surgery, you've already made a decision you don't want anymore. Why does it matter then? To be a "mariage material," would you ahve another?

You will just be looking for different kind of guy who doesn't want to father children. Trust me, there are many men out there like this.

Sounds like you have to ask yourself a question.

You are pregnant and getting a divorce? Unless you got pregnant by your husband because he raped you, then for goodness sake get those tubes tied now! Don't put children through a life separated from their dad.

I personally consider it a real plus myself. I love my 3 kids, and would die for them....but want any more? NO THANK YOU! I want to live the rest of my life, with out being "Daddy" to little ones...not selfish, I've just "earned" that right. I think men would really cherish the fact that you couldn't have any morekids. It's your life....make the decision YOU want to make!

"Marriage material" for me depends on what marriage means. If one of my goals for marriage was having kids, it would make a difference. (If I loved her enough, though, I'd still marry her.) If I didn't care about having kids, it wouldn't matter.
I personally haven't decided yet.

I'd consider a woman who was mute as "marriage material."

since i don't have kids now ,it would bother me. if i had some already, i lwould not mind. (most any man that would date a woman with 4 kids will likely already have kids. you could be the "bradys")

only if they are looking children of their own, but it doesn't sound like you want any more so a guy who had a problem with that probably isn't the guy for you

I'm marrying a "fixed" woman. It was a bit of a relief when she told me, no more condoms or pills .....

no, baby girl, you need to be upfront with the guy before you get serious. see how he feels about it. but for me, procreation is not the reason i'm date a girl.
