If it worked once, I would do it again. It also helps with the shedding factor. We have 2 labs and they pant constantly. Also, keep water and plenty of it, especially for summer. They like to swim and drink.

We used to shave our dogs coat for the same reason. The vet said that it is better for her to not have her coat shaved because although her fur may feel warm, her skin is still cool. The fur protects them from the heat. As long as your dog has water, it is ok with a long coat. On the other hand, we shaved our dogs coat for 5+ years without any negative effects so I guess it could be personal prefrence. I personally think that not shaving the coat would be better for the dog but not many people listen to 14 year olds....

Dogs have fur for a reason. Not sure where you live but I would be very cautious if you live in a sunny area and she is outside a lot. Dogs can sunburn too. I think more importantly I would try to keep her in air conditioning and make sure she has a lot of water (you could even put cool water down for her. I would also consult a homeopathic vet to see if there is possibly a pulmonary issue other than just being hot. My dog pants a lot but he has been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis.

why not? if it seems to help her out. I have a persian cat and I get her shaved every summer, it is healthy, it helps the hair grow stronger and the pet benefits greatly in the summer.

If you allow your dog into your home by all means shave her. I have done it for all three of my dogs to control the hair as i have asthma but my dogs are free to go in/out of the house. The dogs love it!!!

Either one is healthy, but keep in mind, dogs are made to have long fur. As long as you keep her well-hydrated, she should be okay with her longn fir.
