The success of any decorating scheme depends on how well it suits all the members of your family. To create a décor that you will be happy with, think about what you want and also what you don’t want.

It’s a good idea to know what you have before you begun to change things. As you begin to pull your design ideas together, think about your preference and what will work in your home.

Color can work wonders... it can change the look of a room and change your feeling about the room. You can start by looking through magazines, and catalogs. Give yourself plenty of time, it will take longer than you think, and your ideas will develop as you go.

Gathering samples is a great way to begin. If you are starting with a color, your samples might include fabric, paint chips, wallpaper, carpet, wood, stone, and tile.

Knowing what you can spend on a project will give you a clearer idea of what you can achieve. If you’ll on a limited budget, mark off those things that will make the most difference, such as a new wall color and a new sofa.

You can set the mood of a room in lots of ways, such as lights, and furnishings. There are no hard or fast rules or must-do sequence for this process.

You need some idea or plan before you start, if you don't know what you are attempting to do, how will you get there?
Who will live in the bedroom? What will it's use be, a spare room, a child's room, or adults.
If it's for a certain person, what are their likes and dislikes when it comes to colors, fashions, etc. What furniture, besides the bed are in there. How much spare room do you have.
Then determine some scheme or theme, and then paint the walls accordingly, buy some pictures, relating to that theme.
If you think of a coastal theme, then pictures of boats, lighthouses etc, will fit well.
So get as much information, of what you want the room to be, and go from there.
Good luck.

Depends on your personal taste really but I would really suggest that you try something as neutral as possible, or that will make the best of the light in your bedroom. If your bedroom is small, you need light airy colours to make the room look bigger than it is. You need to make sure that you like the colours too as you will have to feel relaxed in your room. I suggest plain soothing colours rather than flowery wallpaper or duvet covers. If you are female, try pink and grey, or lilac and pink. If you are male, stick to the variants of cream (or whatever the fashionable name for it these days is) or light blue. Cliched but practical... I recommend laminate flooring too, as this will reflect the light well, and will avoid collecting dust. Also try fitted wardrobes if you can afford it, ideally in wood or what looks like wood
