Neck Surgery - After neck fusion on C5 & C6, what can I expect after 6 weeks?

After an auto accident, my neck had to be fused at C5 & C6 using a plate. I continue to deal with discomfort and have trouble getting comfortable while sleeping. My neck feels stiff. After 7 weeks I have not been encouraged to begin therapy and I continue to wear the brace. What should I expect, and is this normal?

I had c4-5-6 fused and dealt with a stiff neck for 20 years. I ran across an accupuncturist, Jampa Stewart, who fixed my neck in one one visit. I can now turn my neck when I drive to see behind me. It was not a miracle...just a thousand years of triial and error passed down from master to student.... I spent 8 of those years unemployed and lived with chronic pain from 4-10 and now my pain is at zero. I do have about 5% immonility compared to 20%-100% and to me...I believe... those needles fixed me.
