There is no written rule a man owns you if you lose your virginity to him, congrats on losing it to a man you loved! That is a good thing. But if it isn't in your heart and you don't feel happy in the relationship you must move forward and find what is out there for you. He will be a good memory for you forever and keep it that way, don't let the bad stuff eat it all away until you just lose it!

There's a good reason you have this question: when you have sex, it does indeed create a permanent change in the relationship, so that if you break up after that, you leave a bit of yourself with him and vice versa. Therefore, breakups are not supposed to happen(1).

What is really supposed to happen, though, is that you get independent of your parents, make a permanent, exclusive commitment to your spouse, and only after that become one flesh(2). It sounds like you didn't quite get things in this order.

I think that breaking up would be taking the easy way out - unless he's cheating on you or something like that. What you need to do is communicate about whatever problems arise, assuming that you will find a solution, that not finding one isn't an option, also make sure to give each other personal space, without lessening your commitment to each other.

I think it is good that your boyfriend feels that way, although I would be even happier if I could be sure that it wasn't because he thinks that now he owns you or something - I hope what he means by that is that he wants to take responsibility for what he has done with you.

If you love him, now is your chance to make that love a choice rather than something your hormones made you do. Make the most of it!

May God bless you

Just because you lost your virginity to him doesn't mean you can't leave him. The big question would be, exactly how is he getting on your nerves though? Does it really constitute a break up or a smack in the head? If it doesn't warrant a break-up, tell him what bothering you. Otherwise, walk away and find someone else.

never feel obligated to stay with the person you had sex with. or don't let them make you feel that way. leave him if you've had enough.
