One should exercise proper use of the English language before correcting others. There is no instance in the English language where the letter "I" (i), by itself, is not capitalized.
While on MySpace.com I was reading a note that a guy wrote to his GF. I saw something that was misspelled, so I wrote him with the corrections. He became very angry. Was his anger well founded?
How do you feel about what I just posted?

I don't know how you came across reading someone else's letters. If it was posted or what, but do you know either of them? None the less; was it really any of your business to correct him? Of course I don't know how personal this letter was. Though a letter from a guy to his gf seems pretty personal to me, no matter what it contained. Why not stay out of other folks' business unless they ask for your opinion.

It is probably best that you not volunteer that kind of information to a stranger. It would be similar to my seeing you and telling you that the dress you are wearing is not inappropriate for the occasion. If you tried to correct every wrong committed by a stranger, then you wouldn't have enough time in the day. It was not right for him to get angry at you (I personally would have appreciated it, but then I'm comfortable with myself), but it was offensive of you to correct his mistakes.

Some guys get intimidated by a woman correcting them on anything. They tend to get defensive. Believe it or not, some even take it so far as to receive it as an attack on their very identity. Personally, I think he needs to chill out. You were helping him. But nonetheless, just keep that in mind next time.

A lot of people don't take constructive criticism well - best to save your help for someone who asks for it. If you don't know him, don't worry about whether or not he's mad. Most people don't think that spelling and grammar are very important anymore.

in case you get a *drink* remark, you need to understand you requested a question that has already been requested. it really is adverse to the regulations, i imagine. Correcting one's spelling or grammar is a few thing everybody on the web do. =( it really is somewhat unfair to assert in straightforward words atheists do it.

He was right... it's not your job to correct his spelling... He's not your BF... so... why bother.... maybe his GF likes him for the way he is....

He was right to be angry, but he is not right to take the anger and put it into action.

his feelings are neither right nor wrong.
anyone can get mad anytime they want.
feelings are not right or wrong.
like when you get sad and cry it's just your feelings,
not right or wrong to feel that way.
don't worry. his feelings are his responsibility.
they are not your fault.
