What does it take to be a 10th Mountain soldier??
I am 18, can i join?

You just have to be assigned to 10th mountain. It's nothing special, like the 75th Ranger Regiment. It's just a division, like 1st Cav or 4th ID. But it get's really cold at Ft Drum. Oh, and no, it's not that hard to get orders to 10th Mountain. Just make sure it's in your contract.

It takes the kind of man that the Army places at ft Drum!!!! Anybody can be in the 10th mountain division who is in the Army... are you thinking of the old 10th mountain soldiers from WW2?????

Have your recruiter get you test and physically qualified. Then have him do an FSR2S on you, calling the ROC (Rock) for Fort Drum. Your Recruiter can make it happen, just ensure you are at the office early in the day as assignments are East Coast and if you are in CA like I am, that leaves less time to get things done.

10th Mt Div is currently serving in Afghanistan. If your MOS(job description) allows for it you could volunteer to get into that group but be ready to be tough.
