Please understand I have not left the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am still a strong member. I want to know if you believe that I can ask Christ into my heart with out being a Prodestant.

It's a good question. What they mean, of course, is that their idea of who and what Christ is conflicts with what they suppose your idea of who and what Christ is. So your acceptance of Christ into your heart can't be right - you don't know the true Christ, or so they think.

There are two problems with this. First, they assume that they know the true Christ. That is debatable, since there hundreds of different Christian Churches with different understandings of the nature of Christ. What it amounts to is that they have gotten together to identify certain threats to their way of life, and identified Mormons as one such threat. They reject Catholicism, yet it is only personal opinion on the interpretation of scripture that gives them any idea of what to believe in. Blind faith in the traditions of the fathers does not equate with pure truth.

Second, they assume that they know what Mormons believe in. A cursory glance at Yahoo! Answers shows you that they have no clue. So ignorance breeds fear and loathing, and they are willing to accept what some Mormon-hater tells them to believe. That is more comfortable to them that dealing with the issues.

all Mormons are Christians. Mormons are just a nickname. Mormons are actually members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. so if you are a Mormon and believe in those teachings then without even saying it you have accepted Christ as your personal savior. as for being saved, you still have to follow his teachings and be the best you can be. God and his Son Jesus Christ know what is in your heart.

By the way you throw insults in the Politics section, I never would have guessed you to be an LDS. The arrogance, though, now speaks for itself. As for your question, why are you worried? Your religion is the one true religion, right? Your path is the only path, right? Your Christ, the Christ of this dispensation, is a great deal different than the Christ in the Bible, but like I said, LDS claim to have the utmost authority on how to get to the 3 tiers (hopefully the top tier) of Heaven, so don't worry. It is everybody else, those who belong to the "church which is most abominable above all other churches, which slayeth the saints of God, yea, and tortureth them and bindeth them down, and yoketh them with a yoke of iron, and bringeth them down into captivity" that are not saved, for the devil is the founder of that church.

The short answer to your question is yes. The long answer is that the Bible and the Book of Mormon teach radically different things about who Jesus is. If what you believe about who Jesus is does not jibe with what holds up under scrutiny and does not mesh with the Bible alone as the source of your faith, then you need to re-examine the truth of what the Book of Mormon and other LDS publications claim.

I am not wanting to cast doubt on your faith. I am questioning whether the Jesus you believe in is the one that is taught by historical Christianity. I have had several friends who are LDS, and they are wonderful people, but the Jesus they say they believe in does not line up with the Jesus of the Bible. I'd like to encourage you to keep digging to find out who Jesus really is and don't stop until you get there.

Some questions:
Do you believe the following:

1) The Bible is the inspired word of God

2) Mormonism is in conflict with historic Christianity

3) It is truth that sets us free (John 8:32)

Ten important questions that need answers (please check all quotes to be sure they are correct):

1) Joseph Smith said: “..the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.” (Introduction to Book of Mormon). What are these precepts?

2) Why do the doctrines in the Book of Mormon conflict with some of the doctrines in the D&C? (i.e. Jacob 2:23-28 and D&C 132:38-39)

3) Why would a true prophet of God claim: “I am the only man that has ever ben able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I.”

History of the Church, Vol.6, p.408-409).

4) Why does Mormonism still practice blood atonement and Utah still have the death penalty by firing squad? (Doctrines of Salvation, Vol.1, p.136)

5) Why are some sins not covered by the blood of Jesus? (Journal of Discourses, Vol.3, p.247;

Vol.4, p.219; Doctrines of Salvation, Vol.1, p.133-134)

6) How could God, the Creator, have been equal to His creation by being at one time a mere man? (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.345-346)

7) Is it necessary to have the “passport” of Joseph Smith in order to enter the celestial kingdom of God? (Journal of Discourses, Vol.7, p.289)

8) Is it true that Heavenly Father has a father, a grandfather, etc.? (The Seer, p.132)

9) Can anyone obtain the celestial kingdom without being perfect? (Book of Mormon Student Manual, p.303)

10) How could the law of man override the law of God in regards to polygamy? (Journal of Discourses, Vol.11, p.269)

Ro:10:9: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Ro:10:10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Ro:10:11: For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Ro:10:12: For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Ro:10:13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
