I have just finished my course of dental braces and the reason why i had them in ( and why most people have them in) is because they are unsatisified with the way their teeth look e.g. they may be protruding or joined/ mangled together. And sometimes, people have braces because the position their teeth are in have become uncomfortable and are causing pain to their gums or mouth. Braces correct the teeth and make them straight and comfortable for the person.

because some dentists need to make money. People don't all necessarily need to get braces when a dentist tells them they need it. A lot of dentists say that because they get x amount of dollars for referring a patient to a dentist that does braces. The doctor that does braces is more than happy to make the money too, even if you don't really need braces they will tell you and your parents you need them badly.

DNA. some people don't and some people do, and a lot of times it's because of what their parents teeth paterns are. Atleast thats what i think. Also I've heard thumb-sucking and being on a bottle too long can give you an over-bite or crooked/spaced out teeth.

It helps a person's bite and puts their teeth in a more "natural" position. I have 1 year to go. most people get them wghen they are 13 through 16 but some adults get them because they didn't need then when they were young.

braces, like for your teeth? because their teeth are crowding or too far apart. Mostly it's for someones self esteem but also crowding of the teeth can make it hard to clean in between and cause decay.

some people need braces because they have a gap in their teeth or their teeth aren't aligned or they just have a overbite.
