confine your cat in a large dog crate with her litter pan, let her out only when you are with her until she starts to learn. Have you tried different brands of litter? possibly potting soil. Make sure she doesn't have worms

Make sure that the litter box and the food bowl are in two seperate rooms. Cats will not use the box if the food is in the same room with it. Also, some felines will not use a certain type of litter. Try switching brands and see what happens. It might be time to have the feline fixed if it is not already. One more tip is make sure that you clean it every other day. Once a week is not enough even though some people think that it is. Cats are finicky and will let you know when they are not happy.

If you are dealing with a kitten, it will be necessary to bring her to the killy litter box often during the day, and use your hands on her paws to help her dig a hole. Make the litter box accessible - when we had a litter of kittens, we had one box on each of 3 floors. You still have the occassional accident but not for long.

If this is an older cat, you have another issue entirely. Most cats won't go in a litter box that isn't cleaned out every 2 days - would you want to dig in that stuff!??

If it is a senior cat, same thing as for kittens - more litter boxes.

Have your cat checked out - a urinary tract infection , which is not uncommon in female cats, can lead to this as well. They just can't hold it - it's not there fault.

Hope this helps.

Keep it extra clean. Consider buying a LitterMaid if you cant clean it throughout the day.

If the cat keeps refusing it, try a different kind of litter. Some cats really can't stand the smell/texture of some brands of litter.

If you have multiple cats, you must have multiple boxes. Put them apart so that a scared cat won't have to deal with a more agressive one. Put at least 1of the boxes a place the cat will find safer, eg not the busyiest hallway in the house.

NEUTER the cat if he isn't already!

If this is a recent problem, it could be his way of showing how stressed a new kitten, puppy, baby, etc is making him. He may improve with time once he adjusts.

The litter box has to be clean. Use scoopable litter, scoop out the waste every night, and clean the box out completely every week. Cats are fussy, and won't go where it's dirty. Would you?

Once they've gone outside the litter box, it's very easy for them to do so again. Get something like Oust and clean the area to get rid of the smell.

By making sure the cat litter tray is clean at all times. Remove soiled litter immediatly and clean the litter tray out completly after two days BUT keep a little original litter and add this to the clean litter so the cat knows it his dirt box. If its a kitten. place your kitten in the litter tray after every meal as this is when a kitten OR cat is likely to use the litter tray

Cats will go to the bathroom in places that they have gone before, or near where they have gone before. Only because that is where their sent is. To get your cat to go in the litter box, you literally have to watch them to see if they are looking for a place to go (they usually walk around looking at the ground, or smelling the ground, some cats will meow) then what you have to do is pick them up, and place them in the litterbox. Once they see the litter and how comfortable and private it is, they will love it. Good Luck! And disciplining your cat is a bad thing in cases like this!

Show her the litter box then put her in it when she is going or if she already went then pick it up put it in the litter box but make sure she's watching so she gets the point that the litter box is where it goes. You might have to show her a few times before she gets the point.

Keep the litter box clean. Most cats don't like a dirty smelly littler box. Most cats will use a litter box instinctively. You may have to put it in a crate big enough to put a littler box in with it. And may it will relearn to use the litter box. Good Luck

First, make sure the litter box is clean. Cats can be picky about a dirty box, then try changing litter, maybe he doesn't like that brand. Again, cats are picky,

I found this article which might help you. http://www.catsinternational.org/articles/housesoiling/unabridged_litterbox_1.html

Every time you think it is going to go put it in the litter box, let it jump out or whatever. Also every hour put it in the litter box let it jump out if it wants to. The first thing will show what to do in it. The other is to show where it is.
