A Scion..they are ugly..but gets 30-35 miles to the gallon

Toyota Pirus is no 1 advertised to getting 61 miles, however 41 miles is what they are actualy getting, then there is a
primium to be paid, and the contact from the sales person I got left me with the impression he really was not interested in selling one. I think they also maybe a waiting time. So my girl who lives in the area of their dealership will go to testdrive one and I will then share more on this There is the Vw and of course the domestic hybrids to look into as well.

4 cylinder cars usually have better gas economy but I would also check out the horsepower if you plan on getting on any highways.
I had an old 4 cylinder pickup that was a death trap on the local highways. Here if you can't get up to 70 MPH in seconds you are dead red meat.
Don't forget that the gas mileage listed on US new cars is a theoretical number & you will NOT get that rating for long if at all.

Almost any compact car with a four cylider engine will give you great fuel economy. The Chevy Cobalt is priced around 15 to 18 depending on the trim package. They are sporty and fuel efficient. Toyota Corolla's are great for fuel economy and well rated for quality and reliability. Check Consumer Reports website for the best ratings.

Toyota Camry will be the nicest vehicle under 25k and will get 30mpg overall.
Honda Accord is next best, but it doesn't ride as nice as Camry.

VW with a Diesel...Jetta, Golf or Bug...gets 50 mpg
