Yes, there are many different types of people who call themselves witches. Some consider themselves hereditary witches, their parents or grandparents were called witches. Followers of the Wiccan religion are Witches. Most either believe in dieties, such as the Goddess and her consort, but some believe divinity is simply the life force. People can perform magickal acts, but it's not really a power as depicted in the movies. However, most people who claim witchcraft and power just saw too many movies or are trying to be more than they really are, especially if they brag about it.

modern day witches?! Bah Humbug! See the Togolese Football team? Even with all their witches's help, they got their asswhooped!
Just in case you wannabe wiccan/wigan/whatsoevers dont know what I am talking about,it is the current World Cup 2006.
To me, only really learned Buddhist Monks can have "powers" but notlike you witches dream of having such as flying around on a broomstick, banishing demons with a fireball etc etc etc blah blah blah hogwart bullcrap. The Monks who practise vipassana meditation, clear their minds of defilements and concentrate on their mind, can use and transmit pyshic energy, connect with real deities (not like you witches can ever dream of as deities prefer to come to people who are clear in mind and not some hags who dissect frogs and eat spiders etc), create real Out of Body episodes, create talismans which can stop a gun from firing and many many more other unexplainable "powers". The things only you wiccans/wigans/wiwhatsoevers can ever dream of.

Yes, they do exist, but most magick practiced in the modern world is white magick, which is for good, not for evil. The most common known are those of the very peaceful religion, Wicca. Their beliefs are based on ideas such as if you believe anything strongly enough to be true, it will be, and many earthy things have spirits themselves, ie- certain stones and crystals have a certain energy that can improve or damage the flow of your own. Wicca is probably the religion I follow closest to, but I don't know enough about it to consider myself part of it.

There are true witches. All power that may be used by those who are true witches comes from interaction with the forces of satan.

Note: most who think they are witches are not... satan is in the deception business. He only wants to decieve as many as he can to keep them from knowing about the Good News of God. That is God's offer of Salvation and eternity with Him.

Satan uses the witch thing to keep as many as he can from God. And he can make it lood really inviting a nice and all. Love nature and hug a tree and all that. dance naked and have sex... all kinds of feel good stuff

There are not that many true witches as satan dont really want or need followers... he knows his fate... he is just getting back at God while he still can by decieveing as many as he can

yes, they exist, they are wiccans. they have the same powers as anyone else, for example the powers that some religions get through 'prayer' that is the same as witches do through casting spells. It's not evil. The philosophy of wicca (mainstream, the majority of wicccans) is:
Do as you will but hurt no one....
as opposed to christianity which is more like...
Do god's will.

They have no power. Met two so called witches once, load of horse radish.

I suppose if it causes no harm then it's up to them what they beleive. Talking to cats and covorting naked in the forest is not my idea of fun anyway, it's just creepy. That's just me though

I'm not sure at all on witchcraft and stuff like that, but it's my belief that one of two things are happening. One is that we are approaching times like existed when Noah built his ark and that we may be sealing our own sinning fate. Two is that people with strong faith still exist in the form of priests and some are blessed to do things with the help of god. I believe that people that preform amazing things like saving hundreds of lives and things like that have strong faith and god helped them in the miracles.

The term "witch" has no, meaningfull, defined meaning. Members of the Wiccan religion refer to themselves as witches just as members of the Jewish faith refer to themselves as Jews. or members of various Christian churches refer to themselves as Christians. You could as readily ask of the Jews or Christians: "Do they exist? What powers, if any, do they have, and where does it come from?". Religion is built on faith, without it spirituality dies. To expect one faith to provide proof, while exempting all others from the same test, is to set yourself in the role of judging God.

people might practice witchcraft, but witches do NOT exist and magic does not exist. It's the stuff of great books only.

There are people today who practice witchcraft. No one has powers. I don't practice or believe in it myself. Some people consider them pagans. I think it is like a religion to them. silly if you ask me.
