Does anyone know how I can put a statement on my credit report? For example, for an account that was opened w/o m permission (fraudulently) and this was proven, how can I make a statement on the negative info? It should be deleted, I think, but in the meantime??

By law, you are entitled to place a 100 word consumer statement on your credit report. Credit bureaus may tell you they can't fit 100 words but "The Fair Debt Reporting Act" specifically states you are allowed. Credit bureaus may need to be reminded of this.

You can put statements on your credit report. You can do that either online or by mail with each credit bureau. BUT, keep in mind that sometimes when you put statements on your report, the statement may remain long after the tradeline drops off.

The best thing to do if you are dealing with identity theft is to file a police report and then dispute the account with the credit bureaus, include the copy of the police report with your dispute.

You have to contact the credit bureau. Usually you have to have a current copy of your credit report. If you requested it online, you can begin the dispute resolution process online. Some of the credit reporting agencies allow you to add a comment to the item you are disputing. In some cases, you won't be able to add your comment until the dispute resolution has finished.

There are lawers that specialize in this stuff. Many places will not take you seriously even though they should until they receive a threatening letter from a lawer.
