Maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture but most of the people I know who are immigrants have large families and don't seem to be concerned about how many babies they bring into the world. Is this true? If so, is there a reason for it? Is this a big, medium, little or no problem at all for the USA ...or even the world? Gobal warming and all that? More people ....more warming?

SimpStun: It's a question I ask, not a point I make. Except for the point below.
I do "rather guess" that the more people you have driving cars, the more emissions are being produced (= more greenhouse gases). They more people you have, the more houses you need, the more lumber you cut, the more forested land needs to be cutivated to feed the evergrowing pop. etc, etc, i.e. the more each person contributes to what some consider detrimental effects; like gobal warming. Simply put this basically means, too many people. Hope this clears "my point "up for you.

Although they might have a few kids when they COME here, the number of people in their family usually shoot up after they settle into a place to live. Why? Simple. The mother plops out 7 babies in addition to the three she already has, stops working to take care of them so that her husband is the only one working, and then all the children can collect citizen benefits. If immigration ever comes they just say "Most of my children are legal....who will take care of them if you deport me?" If they say that they will just deport the father, the mother can say "Well, we are dependent on his income."

Notice, I am referring to illegal immigrants. Legal immigrants do this too, but it's not as common.

P.S. Crow_rez:
I don't think you have studied race or history itself carefully enough. First of all, every race has been around for at least 40 thousand years. The Indians came here from Asia 15 thousand years ago (at the MOST) so that they are not a true race. Since they are not a race- but instead a branch of the Asian race- they are immigrants from Asia. They came here across the Bering Strait, and basically spread out all over North and South America. Most tribes had no marked territory and were nomadic. (The few that weren't were extinct before White people came.)

When the immigrants from Europe came, the land was as much theirs as it was the Indians'- they did not have it marked- and the Indians fought back at them. It was the age of exploration and conquering- all nations at the time fought for land (This was the case in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, etc.) so that the Europeans' fighting back makes perfect sense, especially since it was done in self-defense. Also, Indians sold each other into slavery, fought each other for land even though it was only for temporary usage, and most can't control their urges for pleasure (whether they are for alcohol or sex), so it is going to take a loooong time for anyone to convince me that the Indians are "Native Americans" and have more of a right to land, aren't immigrants, etc.

I think it's part culture, but mostly they have learned that if you make under 20 or 25 thousand a year you really do not pay taxes. In California they take out for SS, and Medicare, and Disability, the rest state and fed taxes you get back at the end of the year if you claim 0 dependents, but if you claim like 8 kids you get 8 thousand back from the government, the more kids the more money. Their was a guy on the radio that said he new an illegal who claimed he had 8 kids and got back 8 thousand but the kids were not citizens and still lived in Mexico, now if that's not ripping off the government I don't no what is. It's going on all the time from every angle from government to our social services, and it's not just Mexicans, its other illegals from other countries also, if you ever drive by the welfare department and see them lined up it looks like the united nations down their.

Many people that practice certain religions are not supposed to use birth control as it is against their religious beliefs. This may be why it seems that some families are so large. Of course these families are concerned about caring for all of their children but often times their religious beliefs impede them from making decisions that would directly go against what their beliefs are.

So, no, it is not true that immigrant families are unconcerned with how many children they bring into the world. Also, the birth of children does not directly correlate to the increase in global warming. More people means more taxing of the natural resources of the world, but not necessarily all brought on by only immigrant families.
Your comments embedded into your question seem to be based on ignorance and appear to be absurd fallacies in your logic. It is unfortunate that you have tried and seemingly failed to tie two issues together that have no basis for comparison.

I stand by my response. If you are proposing that immigrant families are the cause of more global warming singlehandedly without consideration of other population growth throughout the world then you are even more narrow minded that previously suspected. I understand the point you are trying to make and completely disagree with your fallacy laden logic. If it is accurate about growing population without considering those currently in the population that are going to die and thus balance things out population wise then no live births should occur anywhere in the world. This is not feasible let alone realistic.

WELL here goes: the only reason you see this, and it's true, is because Mexico and all of latin america for that matter is right next to USA, it's easy for low income families to come over (although not anymore) and live a better life. If INDIA OR AFRICA were right here believe me you would see families of 10 immigrating over here. On my recent trip to India I saw HUGE families, especially in the southern part where Catholism had already taken over the faith, and INDIANS were told not to use contraceptives, the families were huge. Families in Kerella, India had so many kids that the kids were sleeping at the shore, instead of the houses. Now imagine THOSE families immigrating over here? THEY CAN'T and the reason the can't is because THEY can afford it =o) plain and simple. the only Indians we see here are the rich ones, from the Braamen class that can afford a plain ticket over here, to the USA. So why do illegals Mexicans have tons of kids when the immigrate over here, it's because the rich Mexicans that do know how to use contraceptives don't need to come over here =o) they are rich, and living happily in MExico!

That may be the case in your area , that the Immigrants there have very large families , maybe it's like that everywhere and i just have not noticed , but one thing i have noticed is the fact that many american-born women ( and i use the term lightly,in many cases it needs to be sustituted with the word skanks or hoochies ), are breeding like it's going out of style,no job to support those kids and no fathers worth a crap to help support those kids , yet THEY KEEP BREEDING.
And even tho i don't agree with illegal immigration , at least they have a mom and a dad in that large family , doing everything they can to support each other and those kids.

I agreed wholeheartedly............. Have they actually think b4 they having the baby? can they actually support the kids? can they provide a good living environment or education for their kids? ...........On a side note, to be a good moral citizen doesn't has to be rich or educated to contribute to the world. The simplest thing you can do is to raise your kids well and keep them away from being a menace to society. Sadly most of them fail to acknowleged this simple fact. Being poor or being discriminated is NOT an excuse. The native indian has suffered 100x more than the african americans and they don't whine a dime. ...........If you look at country like japan where immigrants are a rarity you don't see crimes like we do in America. You will be astonished looking at the crime fact sheets when you compare the two countries. Doors for immigrants should always be open but I think the US needs to tougthen the requirements for immigrants. For example, education, assets(it seems wealther ppl brings lesser crimes), political reasons and etc

The more rug rats they have the more food stamps they get. No problem the middle class Americans will buy the beans and diapers. That is why the dummycrats still have some seats in congress. No need to work as long as daddy stays away until after 5pm when the social workers get off. Then he can come home and start another beaner.

Americans are for the most part out for themselves, so it's hard for some to understand this aspect of other cultures. In many cultures, extended family members all contribute to the success of the family. If there are more family members, then there are more people to tend the farms, get jobs, etc. Also, children are supposed to care for their elders as they get older, and many children do not live to see adulthood. So if you have more children, there is a better chance that there will be someone to take care of you in your old age.

They have large families for the same reason every other under developed countries have large families. It sounds obsurd to us being americans, but the more children you have, particularly males, the more work is available to your family. Thus, a higher chance of survival.
Also in these under developed countries there is a massive problem w/ the education and availability of any kind of contraceptive.
Population control in under developed countries is a major issue.

Most spanish people are catholic, and they don't beleive in birth control. It's against their religion.

Why do you care how many kids somebody has,as long as they take care of them?Back in the day families had 8 to 10 kids. That wasn't odd or unusual then,so why now?

And again:With a name like Juan Carlos, why are thinking like this? You know you've got 10 brothers and sisters.Don't hate on yourself.Hahahaha
