Best knot by far is the Palomar Knot. Easy to tie and very strong.

You have to keep in mind that every knot puts weakness in the line. Certain knots like the granny knot severely weaken the line, whereas others will retain 90% of the line strength.
There are knot tying devices available in most tackle shops, I would advise looking at some knot books to see what's easiest for you.

Yes matey I have same trouble. Difficult to explain with out a picture but here we go. To tie on a hook:
a. feed line thro the ring on hook end then fold over the line (i.e. so that it twists over) at least 5 times.
b. take the loose end of the twisted line and then feed this through the loop that the line makes with the hook (not through the hook eye itself). The line should have now formed a ring or loop next to the hook.
c. the next step is to feed that loose end thro the centre of this loop.
d. holding loose end, line and hook lightly pull so that the knot slips tightly against the hook. MAGIC!
Tight lines.

put hook between thumb and finger turn hook 5r6 times run string back eye of hook when you do this you should a loop or hole if you will where you can run the string back through it's self then hold hook and pull the line at the top of hook (main line from pole and pull the line the knot should slide down to the hook and now fish)

you don't have to tie pretty knots... the fish won't grade you and your baits on them....lol. Fish with a partner who is all fingers... between the two of you... it should work out just fine.
