All pure bred dogs were bred and used for a singular purpose and react ac or ding to their genetic makeup The origin of the pit bull goes back to bear baiting,a "butchers dog "they were called Through hundreds of generations this aggressive tenacious gene has been strengThened by breeding them to fight one another and it seems to have gotten out of control in some strains. Not ALL pit bulls fit this mold but enough of them do to cause the breed ,and there are 4 or 5 breeds unfairly lumped into the category of" PIT" bulldog. The name only implies that they are to be put into a pit to fight All that being said and there is much more to be put into the equation,I do believe that some of the"Pits "should be outlawed for the safety of other dogs and the public. Nuff Said?

Any dog can be dangerous. Dose not take a pit bull to do damage. If you do not want to show the dog it should be fixed no matter the breed. Instead of outlawing a breed a dangerous dog law should be past. Actions of the owners is what needs to be regulated not breeds of dogs. If the people who a responable for the dogs start going to jail for years not just weeks of months
there will a change. The people who use pits for fighting, watching over thier drugs will not mind breaking another law and just keep thier dogs or get new ones. Out law pit bulls and the outlaws will still have pit bulls bans do not work. Punish the humans who do bad things to dogs and in trun to people.

They are dangerous when you have a stupid owner who mistreats it or makes it fight other dogs. It all boils down to who has raised the dog and if they raised it to be peaceful. I think that if they are going to outlaw certain dogs and are forcing people to spay or neuter in the community's, then they should outlaw those people who abuse these dogs, and spay and neuter them as well. Maybe that would send a clear message. As for the city, well they can go to hell. They should be more concerned with important things like burglaries and murder and not so much with taking away someones pet

I actually live close to a city that has put a ban on Pit bulls, and I think it is the dumbest thing. Any dog is what it is made to be! What I think is there need to be stricter laws on how we take care of our dogs. At the present time there does not seem to very strict laws. Yeah there are laws but they are not enforced like they should be.

They are more dangerous, in general. Some, who have been trained by good owners, are good dogs. But the breed itself has been bred over many years to be aggressive. They are a menace to other dogs, and to people, especially to children.
It is unfortunate that all of them need to be curtained due to the actions of only some of them.
They are now being outlawed where I live, following several very brutal attacks in people, including on children.

Pitbull are no more dangerous than a poodle or chihuahua. It is the stupid owners that don't know how to socialize them and train them. I think that if cities start regulating pitbulls then they also need to regulate the little ankle biters, like, toy poodles and chihuahuas. Along with some other breeds of dogs out there.

not really every dog can be dangerous, but when people think about bully breeds they often put labels to all of them as aggressive dogs, they can understand that is not the dog but the owner the one that has the fault on the dogs behavior, so I'm against the cities that make those regulations

Personally I don't think they are any MORE dangerous than other dogs. I believe its all due to how the animal has been treated or trained. No, I don't think cities should regulate, outlaw or limit how many you have.
Just my opinion though...

They should put a ban on people. I'd like to see the day my state tries to put a ban on pit bulls. I will fight my legislators (not literally, of course). People NEED to be educated on this breed. It's not the BREED that is bad...the PEOPLE who breed them to fight are bad!!

Like I said, I'd like to see someone try and tell me how many dogs I can own.
