You Know Cheryl,

If your serious about this question, you will have to get serious about the answers.

#1) If you really care about whether your offending God or not, you need to check the origin of the music in question.

#2 That means that ABSOLUTELY ALL HIP-HOP is OUT! even the songs that sound like they are R&B but are made by Hip-Hop artist. (*The Devil is Tricky one, and will find a million ways for you to rationalize something on his behalf, **Remember he is the father of Lies).

#3 When God created Lucifer his title was the "Son of the Morning" he didn't get the title Satan until he was Banished from Heaven (check the Bible). God created him as a Musical Being - LITERALLY! The lord formed his body with Viols (like in Trumpets) Isaiah 14:9-23 speaks of the musical Viols that the lord created in him; and speaks of his banishment from Heaven.

#4) But REMEMBER God is a Good God and merciful and that he give us Gifts without repentance (Romans 11:29). So, when he cast Lucifer out of Heaven he didn't remove his gift of Music, it really is one of theonly "God Ordained" gifts he had other than Beauty. Lucifer was cast out because he was the only one that was allowed in Gods secret place (the holy of Holies) with God, within Lucifers body were Beautiful Gems (along with those viols) the purpose of those Gems was to capture Gods beauty and Glory so that Lucifer could Usher in Gods Presence amongst the angels as the lord entered in, But Lucifer saw the reactions of the Angels when they looked upon him and the admiration and worship they felt when he played music and ushered in Gods presence and so he realized that Music can create an Atomosphere, So he wanted that feeling to be for Him and Not Only for God. So you know the Story he got a quite Jealous and Rather Vain (un-humbled Beauty will do that you know) and apparently he forgot that God was the Creator of all things and that nothing was made without him. He has the ability to read our Heart (therfore our intent) Irregardless of what our Mouths and minds say. So Of course God discerned his intent and kicked him out but not before he was able to manipulate 1/3 of all of the angels in heaven into believing that he was the one worthy of all the praise! so 1/3 of the angels left/Fell with him to carry out his purposes (hence the term "Fallen Angels").

#5) **But remember he still wants as much praise as possible so he uses the Only really talents he has MUSIC being 1st & foremost. As previously stated he realizes that MUSIC creates atmospheres and can manipulate emotions. and Just as Spiritual law dictates: staying in any Atmosphere for an extended period of time, that Atmosphere becomes (predictable) therefore making it a Climate; and an extended stay in any Climate (other than Gods) becomes a STRONG HOLD!! Come on let put the 2 + 2 together (e.g. sad songs, happy songs, the feeling you get when you hear certain songs. Satan is in the mix of almost everything; proof is that there are some Gospel songs that are or have been also played in some night clubs **Remember kirk franklins "Stomp", Kanye even through Jesus in the Mix in an effort to get him in the Club". God Doesn't need night clubs to reach people he knows Many other ways).

But this goes to show you Satans powers of MUSIC, LIES, MANIPULATION are still so very active (Don't think 3 six (666) mafia is coincidence, or the Gorrilaz or Bone Thugs or read Deangelos interview when asked about the type of Artist he is; it might blow your Mind on Easy listening Music girlfriend, Check the website Below)and Satan can lie and manipulate any situation into appearing beautiful for a While, then once you take the Bait he uses Conviction to make you feel bad about it.

All of this to say Sistah, CHECK THE ORIGIN, everything that sounds good to you; isn't always good for you. Even some Gospel artist, God is not about Compromise; Every time you compromise God or his word you pick up Unnecessary baggage that it is hard to get rid of (strongholds) so if the artist you consider listening to have compromised their integrity to appear on or have a song featured with the Artist of "the World". Maybe you should think twice about listening to them. If the songs you speak of are able to alter your Mood into anything reminiscent of the life you lived before being saved, Think TWICE about listening to it.

I can't actually apologize for this long message, because I will be held accountable for not providing you with the information that God has allowed me to be enlightened with. Now of course its up to you to take it or leave it. But as you know (being a christian) my first obligation is to God and witnessing on his behalf.

So I am praying for you and asking that God shed his light and his wisdom upon for discernment in the the areas of life and particularly in the music dept.

Also for more info G.Craig Lewis has about 4 DVD's that are titled "The Truth behind Hip-Hop" parts 1-4; if you have any way to get them, they are NOT all about Hip-hop either, they are about some R&B and even Gospel. You can purchase them and gain other great insight on his website www.exministries.com ok babe!

Be blessed!

I dont understand why these people say all music but christian music is devils music! That's just silly! I'm christian and I love classic rock, 70's style, and I simply cannot get into christian music, it's mostly just plain ole bad. Maybe more people would listen to christian music if it was decent. I'm sorry, but if my church told me I couldn't listen to my music, I'd have to say that was a "man-made" church and not a God-based church, and get the heck out. Some churches take an awful lot of time making up their own rules, regardless of whether they're biblical or not.

It depends. I used to think any kind of music was okay. So I did a little experiment. I stopped listening to any kind of music that didn't praise God. After about 6 months I finally turned the radio back to a secular station. I was completely disgusted by what I heard. It was like God had opened my ears and I was hearing this garbage for the first time. I discovered that I don't really LIKE all that other music that much anymore.
I'm not going to say all non-Christian music is bad......but much of it is, obviously. Most of it promotes either drinking, drugs, or casual sex. I'm just saying that by listening to stuff like this, we're slowly programming ourselves to accept sin as okay. I'd rather guard my heart and listen to good music than take the chance that some of the filth in music might creep its way into my mind and affect my relationship with God.

I don't think judging is something that the church should do because judging is not for us, but for the Lord. But, in general, I think if it convicts you - stop doing it. I personally chose to only listen to Christian music and have found some wonderful R&B, love song and rap style music within the Christian arena. I feel if it meets my need, why go to the world to find anything else?

They can be. Music is and has often been linked to emotional matters and many of the great writers of history have spoken of it as such. I also find that music is often good at arousing feelings in the listener, even when one cannot personally identify with the words of a song or the thematic content. For example I can think of the song "Forever Autumn" (which is included in the "War of the Worlds" musical) and appreciate the feelings of sadness and longing just from the tune, even though I've never lost a lover (or had one to lose). I frankly don't have a song at the moment, though I have a tune in my head...

That is crazy, if you look in your bible you will see they had celebrations and music all the time. And what is wrong with R&B anyway their is way worse music out there. Where in the bible does it say you cant listen to that kind of music. I think if the music is clean no cussing or sex, or violence, then it is morally acceptable. That does rule out a lot of music but not all and not R&B. Why do people base their religuos believes on manmade crap instead of BIBLE BASED. Not trying to bash anyones religion but try picking up the bibile and reading it or better yet ask you priets of head of church and ask him to show you where in the bible he bases his information from. And not just tell you SHOW YOU!!!!!

It is acceptable for some Christians, and not for others. That is a personal call. Some churches forbid it, some do not. If you are a member of a church that frowns on it, either change churches, or don't listen to music.

God judges the heart. And your heart is what condemns you and keeps you out of Gods grace and forgiveness.

If you feel convicted about listening to that sort of music, then you shouldnt until you have asked God what to do.

Personally I had to give up secular music, because for me it made me more interested in my self and my own desires, and i had vowed to give those to God. But that was a personal dicision, which I now am unable to keep being the weak human that i am.

If it werent for mercy i'd be screwed, cause iam sure thats all iam riding on at this point.

Yes, I believe you can listen to R&B and love songs as long as they have appropriate content. All the bump n grind type R&B songs shouldnt be listened to if you are a Christian. But then again, I believe that it is only wrong if you let the words of a song persuade you to do bad things. I consider myslef to be Christian and I listen to mostly christian music but I do admit to listening to a little bit of everything and I think its ok in my opinion because I dont let a negative song get to me.

I'm a christian and I listen to "normal" music. Although I do try to not listen to songs that have a lot of swear words in them or are really suggestive. There are some really great christian artists out there too though.

Beware, if you listen to secular music after listening to only Christian music all your life you may find that is is better than Christian music and also brings along with it all the same emotions that you *used* to think were coming from the holy spirit.
Course, this may be an issue for you, or it may not. It was for me.
