I will caution you on meeting people in secluded places. If you want to chat with someone on line that's just fine. The biggest mistake is giving out too much personal information.Limit the information to,1 only use first names, 2 never give your phone number out,3 don't tell them where you live. If your going to meet this person , meet in a populated area, make the meeting short, and always look around when leaving to make sure they don't follow you home.. There are some really nice people on the Internet, there are also some crazy people. Be safe when in doubt of a person, cut the meeting short and leave, always follow your "first mind". Let your instincts be your guide.

I have met several people. You have to use extreme caution and your best judgment. Always meet in a public place. Do not, I repeat, do not give out any kind of personal information till you feel comfortable with the person. I have walked out on people ( I know it is rude) whose profile didn't fit what they said they look like because then they are lying right off the bat. I have met interesting people too whom I would have never met otherwise.

Like the saying goes "if it is too good to be true, it probably is."

Good Luck.

Meeting friends over the Internet can be dangerous only if you plan to meet in person. A suggestion on meeting in person is to meet in a very public place and if you're young, bring a friend. In my case, I had a happy ending because the person I met on the Internet is now my fiance and we will be married in September!

As long as you meet in a very public place no reason to be worried at all.
I have many friends from the net over the last 4 years

I don't think it is a good idea. People lie like crazy on the Internet. For example, this guy I went to college with met some chick on the net from Boston. She said she was like 5'4" 130 pounds. She asked him to come meet her and he did. He flew up there and she was like 400 lbs and had really bad acne. I still make fun of him for it.

It all depends on your basic instincts of what is good and what is not good. Really, this is something that would sumamrize what the person you are speaking to is like, what he/she does whenever you are online...things like that. Meeting the friend though.....that would be a very commited and risk taking factor. Make sure you KNOW its someone that you can trust....make sure you KNOW that they are safe to meet. Lots of perverts out there.

I think that it is very dangerous these days to meet someone over the internet and even over the phone and then go meet them. Very bad idea.

It is okay after talking to them for a while. Make sure that you have reference points for them that you can check. Let someone know who it is, where it is and the phone number to contact you. I did it and it was okay. But everyone isn't as fortunate as I was.
