It would be chaos everywhere. People have for so long believed in religion, they don't know what it's like to not believe. If Science was to prove God was fake, it would crash people down, make them horrified, make them believe that life has no purpose anymore. Because no matter how much bad stuff to put in nicely happens, we can always look to God and say God is watching over us, and we can smile, knowing we're not alone in this crazy world. If God wasn't to exist, people would ask, "What's the point of our life?" "Why are we here?" God attempts to explain part of that puzzle.

Aw, man. Don't tease a guy like that! It's like getting blueballs!
If religion never existed? It would impact humanity by allowing every one of them to think for themselves. Perhaps there could be more cooperation, more compromise, and mutual benefits in the world. Perhaps we'd save a few million trees not printing bibles or pamphlets or flyers. Perhaps we could have additional shelters for the homeless by converting churches into housing. Perhaps we could feed starving nation after starving nation by raiding the Vatican or millions of churches and selling off all the gold, jewles, precious stones and artifacts (save a few). Perhaps then, it would be the ultimate symbol of sacrifice to see a cross melted down and sold for food, clothes, housing for those in dire need. It would, at the very least, be somewhat ironic. The churches would finally fulfill their self-realized obligation by TRULY helping their fellow man through the ultimate sacrifice: the religion. Hmmm. It is an interesting prospect.
Unfortunately, this is all just a pipe dream. Even IF (and that is a massive IF) we were able to prove that religion is wrong (and I mean substantial evidence), people would still believe because they wouldn't have a crutch. They wouldn't have a convenient explanation for their existence, or this planet. They wouldn't have an afterlife. I think some people NEED that. They need assurances.
Regardless of evidence, religion will continue to exist. As unfortunate as that may be, I fear it's the truth.

I'm sure we'd have a steady flow of patients to the Psych Ward from mental breakdowns. Some people wouldn't be able to handle something like that. But, honestly, I don't think it would stop religion at all. The numbers would drop for sure, but it wouldn't completely disappear. I know people who still think the earth is flat.

Most people only pay lip service to their religion as it is, and try to get other people to take it seriously. The world would not fall apart if people quit trying to spread such lies.
