I took it for a few months to see if it would help me overcome my depression. It took about 4 days to kick in. It was awesome for a while - I was always happy, always up, always talking and always hyper. I didn't sleep very well and all my friends were afraid that I was hopped up on speed or meth.

Although it felt GREAT to be happy all the time, I was so happy that I didn't bother working on my issues and depression - I just ignored it because it wasn't there.

Then I cut back on the dosage - I took only a half in the morning and half at night - that made it much better for me.

I guess what I am trying to say is that if you find that you turn into a freaking hummingbird on crack, cut back your dosage amount. Of course, talk to you doctor about it first - and don't be afraid to ask for something different if the Wellbutrin doesn't work for you. It's important that you find the right drug and the right dosage for your needs.

I eventually beat my depression and I am no longer on medication at all. It's an awesome feeling to be past all that darkness - I hope you make it there soon!!! Good luck!!

I took Wellbutrin for about 7 months for major depression and it was the worst mistake of my life. I went through serious withdrawal if every day until I took it, I even had to race home from hanging out with friends just so I could take the pills to get rid of my dizziness and nausea. I felt sick all the time and had dry mouth...when I went off of it and switched to lexapro, i was so much better

My sister is taking Wellbutrin right now and it seems to be working well for her. She no longer has mood swings and is generally a lot more nice than she used to be! One side-effect is weightloss--she has lost 20lbs in a matter of months. Good Luck!
