People who say "it's hot enough to fry an an egg on the sidewalk" are usually 'eggs'aggerating or overstating the facts. They want you to understand that it's very, very hot. The truth is that most foods need to reach a pretty high temperature before they're cooked. Eggs need to reach 144 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit before they'll turn from a liquid to a solid. A sidewalk would have to be awfully hot to fry an egg.

I live in the Mohave Desert, and just to let you know that it is possible to fry an egg on the sidewalk. I have done it many times to prove people wrong.

In the summer, it can reach 113 degrees in the shade. More enough times there is no humidity, it is dry heat.

well it really doesnt have to be an extremly hot day, we know that the tempurture is stored in certain things, like it is hotter in your car when the windows r up, and coler outside, so the inside of your car could reach 95 deggres, while the outside is 75, and your hood on your car can store even more heat, due to the flat surface area, that both reflects and store heat, so coking an egg on your car is possible, essentiely you would be convection cooking, but it still may take time

if you crack it onto a metal plane like a car bonet or something. I suppose the egg would boil if it was in the shell. It just seems a bit too wierd to imagine without it being in water.
