If you have just pulled a muscle and it is sore...then try tylenol or ibuprophen (Advil) every 4 hours for a day or two.

For other pain relief use hot compresses alternated with cold compresses. Do each for about 20 minutes in a repeating fashion. Cold reduces swelling.

If it is not a muscle...lets say it is a groin pull...then it could be something more serious and it will take more than a week or two to heal. Continue on the pain medication unless you drink more than 2 or 3 alcoholic drinks per day. Don't drink alcohol w/pain medication, it can hurt your liver.

If it continues to hurt really bad over a couple days you may want to see the doctor. Unless something is broken, however, he will just say stay off it and use compresses.

Good luck

You should use a nice cocktail sauce, or just some lemon would taste good too.

Oooh, did you mean muscle?
