I just got back from Las Vegas last night. I visited the Monte Carlo Hotel's Pub & Brewery (for those that have been, our table of four got the "big" giraffe - 167 ounces of beer).

I have sampled several microbreweries across the country while travelling. Is it me, or does all of the microbreweries' beers taste the same?

It's just the opposite, for the most part -- all the megabreweries taste the same.

But in fact, there really are quite a few brewpubs (much smaller than microbreweries, there is a big difference) that use pretty much the same brewer's yeast and brew very similar recipes. They won't taste quite the same to a beer judge, but the average beer drinker could easily get the impression you did.

Either it's you (lousy tastebuds), or you aren't really drinking beer from microbreweries. Your assessment is a bit like someone who thinks that "all this classical music sounds exactly the same. It's just a bunch of violins", or "all this foreign food just smells funny". It shows that you are either unwell, or that you lack the ability to differentiate.

You have my sympathy.

After you drink a freaking 167 ounces, yeah. Jesus, what did you think?
