Why do you believe in the religion that you do, when there is no concrete evidence of the religion being true, and often disregard part of the teachings in the book. If it is out dated then why do you still feel a need to follow the religion

People who are brainwashed from an early age, find it very difficult to break away from that teaching.
It takes not only a VERY strong and intelligent mind but a sense of courage as well. Two things most christians lack entirely.

Who says there is no concrete evidence. Of course there is. If you refuse to look at the evidence that's your problem.

Why do I often disregard the teaching of the book. Because I am a sinner. I would be even worse if I did not try to follow Christ teachings. I have never claimed to be perfect. If I was I would not need a Savior. Since I am a sinner I am thankful for his mercy.

Who said it is outdated? It is everlasting. I think your problem is that you have learned a very small amount of info about Christianity. You are listening more to people who don't know the first thing about Christ. they say all kinds of false things or half-truths. Of course Christianity looks foolish when they talk about it. Would you seek medical advice from someone who didn't even know the basic parts of the body? Then why look to these fools for biblical info?

God has preserved His Word. In the spring of 1947, the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. These manuscripts were copies of large portions of the Old Testament, a thousand years older than any other existing copies. Study of the scrolls has revealed that the Bible hasn’t changed in content down through the ages as many skeptics had surmised. (See 1 Peter 1:25 footnote.)

Anyone can now obtain access to computer programs that give the original Hebrew and Greek words, and the only "changes" have been made for clarity. For example, the old English translation of 2 Corinthians 12:8 is "For this thing I besought the Lord thrice ...," while a contemporary translation is "Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times..."

Why do you believe in "nothing" when there is no evidence to support it?

I've seen too much and experienced too much to deny it now. I say now because I did look to see if it was true or not. I found it to be true. You're statement: "when there is no concrete evidence of the religion being true" is rather overused and easily refuted. Show me proof that God doesn't exist. If you can show me concrete proof that He doesn't exist, I'll believe. But then again, you won't accept any of my arguments. I've studied this area extensively and it would be like me trying to argue nuclear science with Albert Einstein. If you are willing however, I would like to debate this with you. Or anyone else that would like to try. My IM is ategev979, I'll try to check it more often. But that is a lengthy debate. I'm game if you are. =)

some people have a blind faith towards xtianity (if that's the one your talking about) because that's pretty much the only religion they've been taught and the only one that is accepted without question in this country. if you are of another faith that is not along the same lines as xtianity, then you are a pagan. i have no religion at this time, i am questioning everything i was taught because there are too many things that don't fit, just like you said.

I feel religion gives us guidance for our lives. It helps us make decisions on right and wrong.

The various books related to religion are open to interpretation. Do you try to follow them to the letter or do you follow what you believe they are saying? Have they be accurately translated over the years? Were they written in metaphors?

To me the guidance I try to follow is to treat others the way you want to be treated.

You have summed up the exact basis of my religious beliefs.
I'm an agnostic.

Us agnostics believe that it's impossible to know for sure whether God exists or not, since there's no evidence in favour of either claim. Basically, agnosticism acknowledges that it's impossible for us humans to know for sure the full nature of the universe, and we rely only on the evidence. We know evolution exists, because we have evidence of it. We know the stars exist, because it can be veryfied by empirical observation. However, since there's not enough evidence to determine if there's a God or not, we reserve our judgement.

Other religions claim that they know things for sure. Some claim that they know God exists for sure, others claim that they know that he doesn't exist for sure (atheism). Us agnostics simply admit that we have no idea, since there's no evidence.

Joh 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up:
Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son: that whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world, to judge the world: but that the world may be saved by him.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth in him is not judged. But he that doth not believe is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

I don't follow any religion, although people keep telling me that atheism is a religion and that evolution is a religion. I think they say that to help justify their own beliefs to themselves. It let's them think "since everyone has a religion, it's ok for me to have mine".
