Does anyone else really like to see women breast feeding in public? I think it is disgusting. i think the next time I see one, im going to go sit by her and expose half of my breast.
I dont walk around showing stuff off because these same women would be offended, so why not show those of us who dont appreciate that the same courtesy?
And why in the world would you want to give perverts a show? and yes, you know they are out there!!!!

I am letting this go to vote.
This is my opinon and prefer not to have to deal with children of any age anywhere.
I think it breastfeeding is a VERY private thing that should be done in private. And yes I do believe that more places should have "mommy" rooms for this purpose, so how about instead of ganging up on places with 100 women and breastfeeding, go out and speak about getting a private place to do it.
There are many strange people out there I would not want to have to do that in public in front of those people.

I don't like it. I believe there needs to be a place in private for moms to breast-feed. But then again they would probably call it discimination.

NOt to repeat everyone, but just don't look at the woman and child. Besides, most of the time there is little or no breast exposed when a woman is nursing. I nurse and I rarely leave the room/area when I nurse, no one has ever really minded. and if you wanted to walk around "showing off your stuff" go for it. I could not care less.
I also wonder, would you rather have a woman quietly feed her baby or listen to the little thing scream for food just so a minority would not get offended.
One more thing I would not mind a all going to a nice, clean place to nurse, but that is not always available. Where am I suppose to go in a place like McDonalds? Shold I sit on the nasty bathroom floor?(Just an example, not a slam on Micky D's)

Do you honestly expect new mothers to exclude themselves from the rest of society for almost a year so they can feed their baby in private several times a day? Babies need to be fed more than three times daily, and sometimes it's just not possible to be in a private space when the baby gets hungry.
There is also absolutely nothing perverted about the most natural and beneficial way to feed a baby. Most public breast feeding is done discretely. The baby's head should cover most of the bottom of the breast and the shirt still covers the top part.

Well if the world hadn't turned breasts into sex objects ( or if you all weren't so hung-up sexually) this wouldn't be an issue. There was a day long ago when breastfeeding was common, and nobody cared about breasts like they do now. Because exposed breasts are considered offensive by our puritan-inspired uptight society, they have made disgusting something that used to be natural. A mentality that allows for breastfeeding to be disgusting, only gives the so-called "pervs" a bigger group to belong to.

Wow. Anyone go and check out drsmithswife's geocity.....??? There are just no words.
Listen, I can understand that this is your preference. You are not comfortable seeing someone in public display private body parts. Whether it is that you aren't comfortable with your own body, or just the female body is neither here nor there. The mother needs to feed her child, and every situation is not going to be conducive to finding a private spot or bathroom. If it offends you so much, you have every right to approach the person (if you are at a social gathering or something of the like) and saying "excuse me, but there are bathrooms if you need a little more privacy". But don't be suprised if they say thanks but we're fine. Just don't look if you don't like it, and it will all be okay.

Naw it doesn't offend me at all and in my state a woman breast feeding her child is protected by law most mom's are discreet about it, and when your child is hungry the kiddo don't care where mom is they want food now, until public places make mommy's rooms you just have to look away, if your baby was hungry and you were shopping would you want to sit on a public toilet feeding your baby
There was a story on the news a mom went in the dressing room to feed her baby at a target and the attendant banged on the door and told her she could not do it there, now Target got one big law suit on its hands

I agree with you.
While we know that breast feeding is a natural occurrence, I feel that this should be done in private, just between the Mother and the Child.
Side Note Here: My cousin's daughter is 5 years old and STILL is nursing. While I believe that my cousin's milk has long since dried up, her child still wants to suckle. This little girl will be going into Kindergarten in September. I can't tell you have upsetting it is, at family functions, this little girl will come up to her Mother, interrupt conversations and the like and grab at her Mother's breasts. My cousin, in response will ask "which one do you want" - the child will point, and my cousin exposes herself and her child suckles. It's really unbelievable!

It isn't to be perverted. If it is convenient and the only way, would you rather have the child starve?
It isn't like they are showing anything off by being a mother and doing something that is called "breast feeding" for a reason.
Sure there are other ways to do it, like a bottle. No one is perfect though. And like I said, if the time calls for it and that is the only way. That is what they will do.

Breast feeding is the most natural thing in the world and I hope that one day when i am a mum i will be able to feed my baby in peace without being embarassed by other peoples perceptions.
I would prefer to see a mother breast feeding her baby than hearing the baby cry from hunger.

I see it as being perfectly natural. But since this is the etiquette section, I'll say this. If you're out in public, it's a common courtesy to cover up. If you need to breast feed, just toss a blanket over your shoulder. But if I came across someone breast feeding that wasn't covered up, I certainly wouldn't have a problem with it.

I disagree with you but then again I agree with part of it. I think it's a part of life when a woman breastfeeds her child. But I think that they should be a little more discreet about it. Because if you've never had a baby, you wouldn't understand what little demanding buggers they are when it comes time to eat! I think that they should definitely go into the bathroom or cover themselves up really well to where nobody can see it because there are people who get bothered by it
