Bush has abandoned the Conservative base, it is amnesty he really perposes, because the illegals that stay here do not have to go home and that is not the back of the line. The people in other countries still waiting are at the back of the line, and it's not fair to them they did it the legal way, and it sends a message to other illegals to go ahead and came anyway because they won't deport you, all you have to do is work for 5 or 6 years then you can apply for amnesty. Bush said they need to go to the back of the line, well staying here and still working is not the back of the line, going home is the back of the line, Bush has betrayed the conservatives and the Republican party, he has sided with liberal democrats on this one. I think they should deport every illegal not just Mexicans who have been here less than 5 years. That would get rid of millions of people, they did it in 1954 they can do it again, they deported almost 1 million illegals in one year, by using buses, trucks, boats and airplanes. So the politicians are lying when they say it can't be done, they don't want to do it because they have no balls, or the political will to so do. And by the way if you live in America he is (your) President also. Bush is betraying the American people.

Bush is not pushing for an amnesty, only a clear path to citizenship/legallity. Personally I believe the United States is a very difficult place to legally enter, this may or may not be a good thing. Many people would love the opportunity to live, work, pay taxes but are denied the opportunity because they dont fit into some visa classification. Meanwhile many Americans have never worked and survive on welfare. But I suppose life isnt fair.....as for why? I have no idea....the change in legislation would appear to be a very good thing, I cant understand why anyone would oppose it.

Because that would be a liberal move, and not a conservative. But an amnesty will support some commerce and corporations that are currently using immigrants labor force. If you eliminate this, the US will have a negative impact in the economy. Is a tough decision for republicans. More simple approach for democrats.

Because Bush has big business friends who are the only ones who benefit from this flood of cheap labor designed to drive down wages and benefits for the working class.
Bush and his friends don't send their children to the overcrowded underfunded schools where education for children of illegal immigrants is currently subsidized, either.
Those of us in a different situation have a different take on the best way to handle this than Bush does.

That's pretty simple, mexicans want amnesty, they think they've got enough voting power in the US to get it, and the conservatives weren't born yesterday, OR at night, and they see what's going on, and they want the mexicans, and OTHER illegals, all to move home. It's pretty straightforward, on this one...

Because he's dead wrong? Because at least SOME conservatives realize that it's totally against the wishes of the American people? Because his only interest is the corporations and the filthy rich .... and to hell with the rest of the citizens?
