I agree. I've posted a few thoughtful answers which explored an alternative view. Usually (but not always) those answers are "dead on arrival".
I think that's because many of the questions which are posted here are NOT intended to get new information or explore a topic. Rather, they are rhetorical statements of perceived fact. If you agree...kudos to you. If you disagree you are likely to be ignored (or flamed).
Then again, I also believe the same is true for many answerers. They search for "softball" questions which provide an acceptable soapbox for a POV. Or they look for "hardball" questions which provide an opportunity to lecture and chastise the questioner.
I admit to doing both: lazy answers to friendly questioners and aggressive answers to those I disagree with.
So I agree with you that all of the above goes on. I'm just not sure this is a problem. After all, it's not human nature to select as the best answer one which offers a POV that you oppose. In a perfect world you'd get conversions (or at least recognition) for well-written contrary opinions.
It does happen (I've had a few), but just not that often.
Basically, you give your opinion and see how and if others disagree or approve. Their voting judgment of your opinion is secondary to what's said.

Because they want to shove their religion down the masses' throats and just are looking to rally up some other God(or whatever deity may be)pushers. And I totally agree with you, it's definitely an exercise of self-satisfaction. I try to stay far away from outright bashing anyone, no matter the religion, but many of the folks who consider themselves "religious" are extremely rude and hold the, "I'm better than you because I believe in so and so" attitude.

that's the second one time i have tried to respond to, darling! Questions and solutions are disappearing at a disgusting cost round right here at present, and it would not look to remember even if or not they are in violation of the regulations. i do not comprehend if there is any non secular impact, even besides the undeniable fact that I truly do not have any project believing that an same those who imagine that their faith - and in person-friendly words their faith - is the in person-friendly words "real" one and that each and absolutely everyone different conception structures are evil also are an same human beings reporting on right here. I even do not have any problem believing that persons that imagine that the in many circumstances requested question "y r athiest in this area" has a level, and who imagine that's area only for non secular human beings, are between the most familiar journalists. Any faith or conception equipment that announces "we are the in person-friendly words ones who're proper and all persons are undesirable" encourages intolerance and censorship. Like darling Jackie, i imagine that persons that rfile could could cite the certain rule being violated, and they ought to could cite the certain area of the question or answer that violated it. i'd even flow extra - reporting could value a minimum of as many factors as asking a question does, and, as with thumbs, you should no longer be able to rfile until eventually you're element 2 or above. also, i imagine there should be a decrease on the shape of information you could make in an afternoon - the way there are limits on stars - and that any time someone comments better than 2 or 3 questions in a row, their potential to rfile should be suspended for an hour to eliminate the type of concentrated on that is going on round right here. beautiful is a waste of time now, darling - the Yamster would not even problem to reply, except to deliver you a survey about the way your "case" became dealt with. (((Jabber wock)))

You are 100% correct. It IS an exercise in self-satisfaction. Some people need to belong to a group, even if that group worships an imaginary deity in a book of mythology.
They need crutches for most of the aspects of thier lives. And they feel threatened by those who do not need any such childish notions in thier lives.

For the same reason I am right now addressing 1000 letters telling people that they have lost their financial aid to college because they have failing grades, too many hours or dropped too many classes. The do not want to listen to others that are trying to help. Only listening to themselves and then they will come back to my office and want to know what went wrong.
The same will happen to those people in the end they will want to know what went wrong

Can you say fanatic...repeat after me...FANATIC. Dogma doesn't allow for people to be flexible and often precludes listening/hearing. I have answered many of the Religiously oriented questions and have been skewered by e-mail about how I don't believe or I don't care, or I don't have any faith...I too am tired of the closed minded individuals out there that only care to see positive reinforcement of their side of a discussion. THANKS FOR YOUR POST!!!

Maybe to give their opinions and base it in the form of a question? I enjoy reading some of these, for that very reason-to see all the sides of what people think. I find it interesting.

Many people are not looking for variety in their answers. They don't really want answers from people who believe differently. They are only looking for those who exactly agree with their opinion as an affirmation of their beliefs.

Maybe because some of the answers from people can be truly hurtful at times and who wants to ponder on that anyway.
