Everyone, including Christian's, have treasures here on earth. They treasure their cars, lawnmower, homes..

How do I know this? As a Christian if you can borrow their new car or new riding lawnmower and see what happens...(I'm a Christian, by the way)

Jesus reminds us that we should be building up treasures in heaven. The things we treasure (objects) are not what we should be treasuring.

For Christians, it is a constant struggle to remember that.

To the World, these things really are their treasures...that is why when their homes burn down they often need to seek psychiatric help. The mind is a fragile thing without the strength of Christ.

To me it is the heavenly treasure- the riches of glory, the joys and glories of another world, which infinitely excel everything that is valuable on earth; and which can never be corrupted, or taken away: or rather, lay up your earthly treasures in heaven; that is, put them into the hands of God in heaven; and this is done, by liberally communicating to the poor; by which means men "provide themselves bags which wax not old, and a treasure in heaven that faileth not", Luk_12:33. They shall never want any good thing here, and they "lay up in store for themselves, a good foundation against the time to come", 1Ti_6:18. This is the way to have worldly treasure secured from moth, rust, and thieves; for to lay it up in heaven with God, to give it to him, to his poor, to make use of it for his glory, is to lay it up in a place,

The verse answers it for me, mate! What God hath given freely in a non-stop outpouring of grace to anyone open to its reception. These treasures cannot (should not) be bought or sold... though many try, they only manage to sully the gifts. Still, the Eternal Love is there to be ever-renewed in offerance of resanctification and for becoming whole in the eyes of God.
