Ok so I will hold up with getting another pet. i also meant to ask how i am supposed to cope with the loss. i loved the kitten like id love my own child.. you know its love when I sat there and cried because i knew it was suffering. and i cried until my mom actually gave in and told me we could get medical help for it. we brought it to the shelter to ask for medication or something for it and they said it was too young and that they'd have to keep it and possibly put it down.

Also

the kitten was only 2 weeks old.
my best friend's dog took it from the mother and we couldnt find the mother.
i tried my best to keep it well and happy, it was fine for a week and then it just took sick and had difficulty breathing. I tried EVERYTHING to make it better and my mom didnt want it to pass a disease to my dog or horse so she said lets get it medicine.. so we went and as i said THEY TOOK IT. we didnt say. oh here take my cat that i love so much and took such good care of.. they just said
We will need to keep it here so it dosnt die on yu.

WOW PEOPLE. i dont nag at you for something you didnt do.

u shouldn't feel bad about bringing him to the humaine society. it was the right thing to do. and if u had enough decency to go there and say that u can't take care of him then u should get another animal. trust me, i know about this stuff. and how can people say u were wrong?

You do realize that your kitten most likely has been distroyed - don't you? Did you get it from the humane society? That is the only reason I can see that you would take an animal there. And by really sick, what did she have? I know you have to put down cats that have feline leukemia or feline aids - there is nothing you can do about that. I know people are going to rag on you for what has been done, but it appears that decisions are more your parents than yours. If you would like to get another cat, contact a local rescue group that fosters or cares for the animals until they can find a new home. Those animals are current with their shots, and have usually even been spayed or neutered. Kittens pass diseases very easily, and right now it is kitten season, so all those shelters, have cages that are filled with the little guys. All it takes is one sick one and they can spread illnesses very quickly. Most humane societys or shelters, don't have the time, funds or people to monitor the kittens health, so when things do happen, it usually results in many having to be put to sleep. If you seek out a smaller organization, that has a more hands on or individual approach to their cats and kittens, you are much more likely to find a healthy one. What ever you do, unless you plan on treating this new animal as a "til death do us part" deal, don't get the cat. Things to happen, and you can't just get rid of them at a whim - whether that whim be yours or your parents.

You should not get another kitten or cat until you are older and can make sure it is taken care of properly if it gets sick. Sick pets should be taken to a veterinarian, not the humane society. When you get a pet, that is a responsibility. You take care of it throughout it's entire lifetime. That means if it gets sick, or has an accident, or whatever happens.

I think it's pretty disgusting that you'd give away your cat because she was sick.

I think you shouldn't have any more pets until you understand that when they're sick they're still YOUR responsibility.

Idiot.

No, you are a horrible pet owner. If the cat is sick, your responsibility is to care for it. Not trade it in for a new, well model.

Your parents should've traded you in when they found out you'd be less intelligent than most of the species, how would you have liked that?

Please DO NOT get any more pets.

I think you should wait to make the decision to get another cat. first you just gave away a cat who you were in charge of caring for. getting another older cat at this time which you may have to make a decision to give away for the same reasons is in my opinion a bad idea. you should take this time to mourn the lose of your kitten and talk to your parents about the reasons for giving the it to the shelter and not taking it to the vet and making the decision to have it euthanized yourself. (the humane society has many animals to care for and this costs money by taking your cat to the humane society ands not taking the socialy accepable route you increased the finacial burden of the hunmane society. If you had been really ready for the kitten you would talked to your parents about treating the illness or taking care of the decision to euthanize it humanely through a veterinarian . As for talking your parents into another older cat just prepare yourself for the answer of "No" and talk about what I have stated here. they may see another side of the picture if you are wishing to adopt a cat from the humaine society and take the resonsibility of providing up to 20 years of health care for it. then you may be allowed to get another cat.

Honestly... If your parents were not responsible enough pet owners to follow through with your commitment with the kitten, probably should stay away from getting another. What if the same thing happens? Sounds like you may have a better idea of responsibility and follow through than they. I'm not answering your question am I? Think it through, think of the cats needs too.
Good Luck.

Don't do it. If you just gave away a poor defenseless animal just because it was sick, then it is irresponsible to get another. After all it can end up getting sick too. When you commit to a pet you must truly consider the implications of LONG TERM care and not just as long as it is convenient or not draning of your financial resources.

It sounds like you guys aren't in a position to have an animal. Not to be harsh, but if you weren't willing to get medical care for your cat, you shouldn't have another one. Until your family is financially and mentally capable of caring for an animal in sickness or in health, you should hold off on getting anymore pets.

If your parents think a kitten could pass a disease on to your dog or horse, then they sound pretty stupid. I think you people should not own any pets.

If you already talked to them, be patient. Then, be polite, and gently remind them again and assure them you'll take good, responsible care of it. Do you really want an 'older kitten'? Aren't they less cute?
