During the most common activity you 2 enjoy doing together, watching TV, walking in the park, something really simple, look at her & tell her: "This is the life, I could be like this forever. Would you share it with me always?"

Don't ask her after having sex or while drunk. Get a moment alone. I suggest just giving her the ring in the box, wrapped up nicely. Don't be cheap about the ring. Pick something personalized, natural and attractive. Diamonds with gold and silver are usually quite appealing. A coffee shop with an outdoor patio or a pizzeria would be good. Go when it's not too busy, maybe after a nice movie and a drive or walk around the plaza. Dress nicely but casually.
Don't overimpress her. You'll look like you're trying to hard. Be sincere and passionate, though. No weird stunts or tricks. Women hate the 'ring in the sandwich' thing. Imagine if she broke a tooth or choked on a gem. Not very romantic. If you can pour a glass of wine first or split a dessert to relax into the spirit of the event, even better. Good luck!

A couple of things to do first: figure out her taste in jewelry, and then buy her an engagement ring she'll really like.
If you have time, there's a great way to get her exactly what she'll like, and save a bunch of money doing it (so you can get her a nicer ring for your budget). Get a jeweler's supply catalog or two (like say the Fire Mountain Gems one). Read the small print about the prices carefully, if they say "keystone" pricing it means the price printed in the catalog is either twice or three times the actual price (so a jeweler can show the catalog to customers and still get a fat markup). Look through, and carefully figure out the parts for the exact ring you want to get her, and order them. (If you're buying gems, don't skimp on the quality: for non-diamonds, I wouldn't gert anything below an A.) Then if the parts need to be assembled or finished, take them to a jeweler who does repair and custom work, and pay the jeweler by the hour to assemble and finish them for you (should run something like $50 per hour, and it's unlikely to take more than an hour or two's work unless you get something really complex). Doing it this way should save you at least 50%. Usually the jeweler is happy to do this because this way they don't have to invest $$$ in a ring that's then going to sit on the shelf for 6 months until the right buyer comes along, and they know that if they try to rip you off you'll just go to someone else (get a quote, and if you think the quote is high then get another quote from another jeweler). This takes a bit longer though, and is more fuss, but if you have the time it's worth it. It's how I got my wife's engagement ring made, and she loves it, and appreciates having a unique ring, and also the effort I went to to get her exactly what she'd like.

Go for a nice walk, maybe have a picknic and just go for it. Walking on the beach is always romantic when the sun is just about to set and you can hear the water rushing up on the beach just as it hits your feet. Man does that sound romantic, or what? The best of luck to you and never stop being a romantic even after you've been married 20 or 30 years, a woman always needs to know how pretty you still think she is and that you'll love her forever..

Tell her you are goping one place and then end up at the place you first met ( even if it's somewhere lame like McDonalds) Have some of her close friends and family there and propose in front of everyone. Make sure you have a lovley speech too... explaining how she makes you feel, what it was like when you first laid eyes on her...etc. Good luck, hope she says yes!

Set up a picnic in the park (tell your friend to help you or just you) and make it extravagant and a nice park with a view and everything. And then just take her there and walk around and then be like let's go this way and when she gets there propose.

When she comes to your house and comes in the door....She will hear Lonestars' Amazed playing and see hersheys kisses trailing to your bathroom (the kisses you will replace the little white flap that says kisses w/ your own flap that says "I love you") then once she follows the trail out she will find a note card that says "Now that i've kissed the ground you walk on" and then indicating her to look into the shower where you will have the tub filled w/ flowers and flowers tied to the shower head w/ a notecard that reads "and showered you w/ flowers" then she will follow another kiss trail to your bedroom where she will find your bed covered w/ rose petals and " I heart you" shaped out in the petals w/ a notecard in the heart that says "turn around" then you will be on my knee w/ a ring box and inside a notecard that says "will you marry me?"...Is that good

Okay, i know this is cheesy, but...if you both like reading, then take her to the public library or buy her a book and then highlight the passage in the book that could say " will you marry me?" Cheezy, i know, but it would work for me. Or....you could take her to a fancy resturant and then tell the waiter it's her birthday and they'll bring out a cake and on the cake it says " will you marry me". Or...you could go old fashioned...your choice.

A scavenger hunt with you at the end on bended knee w/ring would be great. Get your family and friends in on it, send her all over town (places that are special or that mean something) and at the end pick a romantic or special spot for you two and be there with flowers and ring.

Congratulations! In my town there is this boardwalk where people can buy a board and have names and stuff etched in it for a small fee. Wouldn't it be sweet to be walking along the boardwalk with her and come across a board that says _____will you marry me? Then you could get down on your knee and give her the ring. AAWWW!!
