it depends on the airlines but 15 is the average. Click both links one from american airlines which you have to be 15 and the other from southwest airlines where you only have to be 5

It varies by airline, but very young people can fly; they have someone to escort them around the airport.

For example, on United Airlines, children age 5-7 may travel on United flights that are non-stop or do not require a change of airplane.

Most airlines say 11 or twleve some are older. Independence Air will let you fly at 11 with no chaparone. Others charge a chaparone fee of about $40. Only way is to check with the Airline itself.

I've seen kindergarteners travel alone. If you are under the age of 14, most airlines would require a person to be responsible for you from the beginning of the trip until your reach your destination and the people picking you up.

I was 5 on my first trip alone. My mom was going on a cruise and our family lived a long way away. I was flying to stay w/ my grandpa while she was away. She arranged with the airline for a hostess to keep an eye on me and escort me to my next flight. I thought it was really cool. I helped her serve snacks and stuff. I think that it would depend on the kids maturity though as to when they are ready. I was very mature for my age. It didn't bother me at all but some kids might be afraid.

I think it's 10. I've seen youngsters get on Southwest planes, and the flight attendants just take extra special care of them. They need someone to drop them off at the gate, and someone at the arriving gate to pick them up. They are never left alone.

Most airlines require you to be 15 in my experience, such as delta and american airlines...Maybe some smaller airlines are 16 however I have not had experience with any or ever heard of that.
