Oily hair home cure: Shampoo Cleanser Recipe
1. Buy some shikakai powder from the market. Powder some green grams and fenugreek (methi) seeds. Mix two portions of shikakai powder, one portion of green gram flour and half portion of Fenugreek powder and keep it. When required, mix a tablespoon of this mixture in the white of an egg and use it as a shampoo. It does not lather like a soap, or shampoo, but cleanses the hair.
2. Take some dry soap nuts (reetha) and soak them in water overnight. Mash them in the morning and strain the soapy solution. Add a teaspoon of shikakai powder and wash your hair.

I have oily hair and my daily routine works wonders. I use Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Cleansing Shampoo, it smells great and is gentle. I do not use a "conditioner" I use a "detangler." My brand of choice is Biolage. The brands are expensive, but they work very well and smell fabulous.
Also, do not ever rub conditioner on your roots. It will weigh your hair down and cause oil to remain in your hair.
I always put treatment in my hair afterwards because I usually have to blow dry it to save time. I use suave volumizing mousse. It is light-weight and gives my hair some protection from the heat of the blow dryer.

Washing it.
No, really, please elaborate. What works best for what?? Styling? Try a clarifying shampoo. And then when you use conditioner, only apply it to the ends of your hair -- not to the roots/scalp, because that may contribute to the oiliness. If your hair is short, maybe skip the conditioner altogether.

a razor?
actually, try washing it less often. as much as you can stand, skip a day here or there, slowly increasing the time between washes (within reason. If 5 days go by, you may start attracting flies, especially if you use a lot of styling products). your hair will slowly adapt and not produce as much oil. over-washing your hair (i.e., every day) is not good.

It depends on what you are trying to do - wash it daily with a cleansing shampoo - I use a shampoo and conditioner in one then also use a leave in conditioner but I also wash my hair every day.

i have oily hair. your scalp produces oil because it's actually dry. try a moisturizing conditioner. wash & condition it daily... and keep your fingers out of it.
